That is exactly what is happening.
Got the word from a Duquesne runner. Lear is an outstanding coach who was pushed out by Steve Lewis back in the day.

Not what I heard from Sources coming out of Pitt
So suppose Lear is on his way to Pitt, Will they hire a second coach position like they originally advertised before main distance coach was gone?
You seem to be in the know regarding Pitt, any truth to the Jim Lear story?
The Jim Lear news is correct. He will begin coaching at Pitt in January.
heard he is coming in to coach the women only, any truth? who will coach the men?
I do not have any idea if he will be coaching just the women or both men and women. All that I know is that he is leaving duquesne to coach at Pitt.
Interesting. Some of the kids were hoping for one of the younger coaches that interviewed.
How is this guy not mentioned when positions open? That is not an easy place to recruit.

I am sure the men's head T&F coach was behind it....

I don't understand; we have a Track coach that was going to get almost $500,000 a year. Now she is suspended, and no one in our entire country knows why she is suspended or what are the main items in the NCAA investigation of her program ?!?!
Should not take it personally or be offended. If he is employed, should be thankful. There are currently many good track coaches looking for work. All too often in our sport, instead of hiring the best person for the team or athletes, the hire is based on some other agenda or motive that is unrelated.
Anyone have insight on North Dakota St., Idaho jumps positions?UT Arlington also has a vault, throws opening.A good way to network is the coaches convention.
I do wonder what happend to Kearney also at Texas but we will prob never know the full story. People like Rock Light of Texas Tech,Kyle White of Stanford,Jake Jacoby of Louisville,Dennis Darling TCU all missing off the map and they were at good programs. Stuff happens all the time though.

Jacoby just walked into Mann's office one day and announced he was quitting and moving to Germany and a few weeks later, that's exactly what he did...
I think the best plan of action for Pitt is to allow Lear to coach the Distance/xc runners and hire a Mid-Distance coach.
anyone know what's up with this opening at Syracuse? Just hiring another distance assistant or someone within or what?
From looking at their staff looks like they are in need of a female coach, so i bet that is what the post is for. Gotta have a female on staff, even if they are unqualified, but they meet Equal opportunity requirements
Who did Georgetown ever hire to replace Stewart?
As far as Syracuse goes maybe that posting is to fill their coach who left to Brown.
Thay already filled that position with Adam Smith formerly at UNC, which prob means he is not going to Pitt.
The guy who left for Brown was an Assistant with sprints and the posting appears to be for a distance coach. Two folks were hired at G-town from Syracuse, one a former coach and one a just graduated athlete.

It's a GA position.
