Deb Farwell WSU??
Deb Farwell WSU??
I need to hire a coach...to help me get through today. The crazy clan has come to town and the game plan is collapsing.
So Georgian Court is interviewing, how about Cal State LA and Pitt? Anyone hear?
Bell is gone
Bell gone to where???
unknown. possibly fired.
For the last time Bell is not Gone Nor is he Fired, Pitt is added another distance asst. to their staff.
Pitt's adding another "distance" coach? Bell coaches more mid-distance (hence little to no success at 5K and up...hell even 1500 and up (minus Bair). What are they looking for with this hire? a 5k/10k type? token female?? I've always thought Pitt could be a great distance program given the in-state talent in Pennsylvania.
Just saw the advert for throws at Brown (on the NCAA site). Seems like they've tailored the ad for someone specific. Lots of "...or equivalent..." and "...can be substituted for...".
In reading their advert, I would guess that this position is already filled everywhere but on paper.
If I am wrong...well, it wouldn't be the first time.

Yes he is
ask anyone there
Bell off website. He's out.
Who are they looking at?
I stand corrected
Just asked this on the other thread too and I guess its already been asked here. Where'd Bell go? What's the story? Is the younger white guy that still around (forget his name)? Talked to him at a meet last year and he seemed like he was trying to do good things.
No one ones where he went or whats the story. Currently being coached by Webb & volunteer asst using Bell's preplanned workouts. Younger white guy isn't there.
Bell left last weekend. They were already interviewing for an assistant, so can start with those applicants for replacement. "Younger white guy", aka Matt Cady, was a volunteer last year and is currently traveling, not due back this year. Team travels to Big East this week as planned, with Webb. No idea why Bell left -- doesn't appear to have been planned.
Jones got the jumps job at Columbia? I'm sure he's a good guy, but I'm confused. There are other coaches with a lot more experience still without work. I'm totally lost in the odd world of t&f coaching. Makes no sense.
a case of The Ivy's taking care of other Ivy's.
many factors go into hiring. not always the person that others think is the "best available coach." It has to be a fit for the person doing the hiring. Finances, personality, familiarity may all play a role. Perhaps in this case there is a premium on knowing how to coach and recruit in the Ivy League. You can be a coach of Olympians and that skill may not translate to speaking to families who are qualified for an Ivy League education.
Mckendree University and Eastern New Mexico are getting close to bringing in finalists!
