Portland State follow-up:
Actually heard that Harrison who has never coached distance runners IS doing the coaching of cross country. They ran at UP meet last Saturday at Pier Park and he was the only coach there (so I was told).
Sad day for PSU cross country and distance program. Is it a move to make more $$$ for himself or he just trying to kill the distance program? Even if he could coach ALL the running events who is going to recruit and and handle all the other coaching duties for these athletes though once there are no distance runners it will be easy?
Shame on the AD's at PSU if this is true. Then again the person who told me says they think its the AD's way of giving the head coach enough rope to hang himself. If that is true its even more sad that the AD would still handle in this fashion.
Since this program is primarily funded by Oregon TAX dollars distance runners across the state should be protesting this move and all PSU distance alums.
