Riley is interim in the same sense that the entire staff at Wazzu has been told no guarantee they will return after this school year is over. Sloan is hanging it up I hear and the administration is going to evalutate the direction of the program. Perhaps a former assistant coach now in the desert returns to the Palouse....
Temple hired long time Illinois Volunteer Assistant Coach Adam Bray.
Coach Dennis tried her hardest to hire a volunteer for this positing but is forced to settle on a coach with no desire to coach longer distances. She succeeded in hiring someone to at least get some middle distance points during track season, but cross country is going to suffer for sure. The team will not be asked to run more than 30 miles a week.
By all accounts however, khadevis is a class act.
Clemson must have known who they were hiring for the throws position, it was only open for a couple days. I didn't notice it on the NCAA site, just the Clemson site. Should be interesting to see which direction they go this time.

Is it just me or is the ACC basically starting over with throws coaches. Still no one coaching throws at FSU, UVA, and Clemson?
Really?
FSU was filled. Jamaican olympian and former FSU thrower Dorian Scott is in place there.
News is a fortnight old, but Rodney Stoker is now at Univ of Tennessee as new assistant for distance. He built a good program from scratch at NAIA's Bryan College.
Yeah, Carrie Lane went to Nebraska last year, this was her first year there. Shawn Cobey, Clemson's throws coach, was moved into a different position, something like Operations Manager. He's supposedly going to take control of day to day stuff with the track team. Tom Wood (NC State) and Greg Jack (VT), have probably been at their programs the longest out of all the ACC coaches. Not sure why the ACC schools change coaches so much.
Yet another move that was nailed by LRC long ago:
Do you really think Sloan will retire before WSU hosts Pac-12's in 2014? Doesn't make much sense to retire before then.
Great hire, if true. Confirmation?
couldnt possibly be a good hire cause he aint never coached at the D1 Level.
Great point! Only D1 coaches know anything about training. I think Vigil said that?
Not that I have an opinion on this hire whatsoever. I do think that there is a lot more to being a D1 coaching job than merely training. For example Im pretty sure coach turner was in charge of hosting a lot of indoor meets and possibly the recruiting coordinator for the Houston track program. Those are things that just takes experience to learn how to do properly. There is also dealing with administration, paperwork, travel, budget, compliance, etc.
The actual training is such a small part of what a D1 coach does in a day.
my 2 cents.
Sloan not retiring after this year. I know him well.... Got a few more good years in him.
Job Update: Rock Light working as food/beverage sample provider at Sams Club, Lubbock, TX. Handing out wine samples.

Let me put this out there- Rock Light is a great coach. He is a great mind and an great guy. Any school would be luck to have him. I have coached in the same coaches boxes as he did at major Championships. That guy knows a lot and has great mentors, and has mentored well. Gossip needs to stop.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
