I'm working on the weekly recap - make that belatedly working on a recap of the last two weeks - and realized that Chris Derrick was twice the top American finisher at NCAAs but never the victor.
Has anyone else been in the same boat?

Chris Cummings Mansfield University twice runner up at D2 NCAA indoor mile outdoor 1500 both to foreign born. You asked...
I didn't know they ran the outdoor mile in NCAA Cross Country!?!?!?!
I didn't know D2 had cross country or track?
XC and indoor T&F are not a majors so WGAF ? Derrick will have his shot after he turns pro. We'll see what he can do.
the final four is not a major so "WGAF"

This thread turned into kind of a shitstorm. But I'll weigh in: No, I don't think anyone else has been in the same boat. Torres was twice the top American, but then he won in his final year. Same with Mark Scrutton, I believe.
I was the top american in 1980 and 1981 but didn't even come close to winning.
you clearly know nothing. mcneil is white. exo facto, Amurican.
Alan Scharsu was the first name that came to my mind.
What was Alberto Salazar's record at NCAA XC? I know he won once, but had to race Henry Rono and WSU a bit.

Nice! I knew what he literal question was I was just providing a similar situation. Maybe not on the grand "D1" scheme but similar.

Probably a combination of alcohol, poor memory, and careless research.

Obviously. How else do you explain his pandering to the stupidity of the masses and infatuation with corruption and power?

The thread was clearly labeled as about NCAA Cross. If you didn't care, you wouldn't have clicked on it.
