Our first indoor meet is this Saturday. I'm running the 5000.

I am sorry for you, didnt know you were peaking for this weekend. Train through Winter, if you cannot do 2 hours, do what you can, talk to your coach, stop complaining and just run.

I did this weekly in college during base and early season. They get easy once you're use to them.
Since when does "discuss?" = complaining?
Also I have completed many 2 hour runs. I just don't like them.
I'll try again.

There's not really anything to discuss, you just want to complain. Congratulations, the internet is a few bytes bigger?
Predict my time then.
I predict you will run 2 hours today.
Run it slow and you'll finish it in the same amount of time.
2 hours for a 5000? That's pretty slow. Like 00:24:00 if you sprint real hard in the last 100m.
I plan to use the walk jog method. That give me the most benefits right?
So you can all understand:
That *will give me the most benefits right?
So, do you think this long run will sap your pop on Saturday?
I want to know what you all think.
All I have done since cross country is long tempo workouts. All of them being about 6-9 miles in length.

I set my 10k pr this summer 7 days after running a 35 miler. Discuss that, candy a$$.
Running long and slow has massive cardiovascular benefits. You need those kind of runs to progress as a runner. Or are you only concerned with your next meet and nothing else?
Maybe your coach is trying to keep you from busting your nut early in the first 5000 of the season?
i did a 2 hr 10 minute run, 5 days before winning a big ass race in high school! Just take an ice bath after words!
A few summers ago I did 2 runs every day, was in pretty good shape, did a 5k tempo in 15:30 with 8 miles run in the morning and a 10k tempo in 33 that summer. That being said when I returned to school and tried to keep the same mileage, my hip quickly became injured to the point where I literally had to pick my leg up just to get in and out of my car. Moral of story, 2 hour runs are good, to a point. Don't worry about this race too much, it's still extremely early in the season.
