Saugus wins after Simi Valley #3 girl is DQed!!!! Sarah Baxter wins individualy
Why?????
Ridiculous... they graduated so many people and still manage to pull it off again! Go Saugus!
Disgraceful way to win, by lodging a protest. Way to go Coach Paragas.
She made strong arm contact with a Saugus girl at the finish. Absurd if you ask me...Saugus still probably would have won but it ruined Simi's nxn chances
Thanks for answering...
Redondo Union girls finish 3rd, again, without having to complain about anyone else's runners.

If you cant win by running faster, win by protest.

You were there and know what happened?
You do realize that Saugus wins even if Barr finishes in front of the Saugus #2.

I was standing right there.
You do know Mark McGuire would of hit alot of home runs without steroids. Still Disgraceful.
Still stinks to be DQ'd.... But Top 5 is Exciting! Great season SIMI!!!
There is nothing wrong with a coach protesting a foul. It is the foul that is the problem. And the foul was confirmed, which means it had to be quite clear (particularly in XC). Officials do not simply listen to a coach's word, they must have direct evidence before they disqualify a runner.

And it's Mark McGwire by the way. You're welcome.
We might have pulled off the win, but just in case, lets disqualify the other team and end their chances of going to NXN.
That DQ was the best thing that could have happened as far as NXN bids go for CA. Simi will get invited to NXN as the #2 at large because Nike only cares about having the best at their meet and they will not pass up a chance at Baxter. Coach Evans is not stupid, if they dont extend an offer to his team, Baxter goes to Footlocker. If I'm Redondo, I'm the happiest team on the planet. They get pushed in by Simi!
Because of the DQ redondo goes to NXN! Without it CA only gets 1 at large and redondo misses. Congrats Coach Paragas, you have once again rescued CA from it's own failings. You truly are one of the best coaches in the country. Anyone who can win that race with the scrubs you started with this year. Damn. You are awesome!

I think this is why Saugus fans are quickly becoming the most hated group in California cross country.
I hope Baxter runs Footlocker and not NXN. The NXN course is terrible - Baxter was MADE for Balboa Park...those hills are her strength and I'd love to see what she could do. I think she would pull away from Seidel and win it, whereas I'm not sure she would beat Jillian Fanning or Julie Macedo at NXN.

Julie Macedo will completely wreck everyone. She is so nasty. When she runs she just looks so strong.

There is a little too much truth in this post.
Here's the trouble with CA cross country. The whole country has to wait on CA for them to finally finish their state season, but CA historically doesn't perform up to reputation in post-season meets. Therefore, maybe the NXN selection committee should take a harder look at including CA schools as at-larges. Or maybe CA should have the decency not to make the rest of the nation freeze and wait for them to finish their season. Bonus: CA would do better in post-season meets.
Chances of it happening? About zero--until and unless the NXN selection committee starts bypassing CA teams that aren't going to do well in Portland, anyway. Then, I think you'd see CA making some very quick changes that would be good for all 50 states.

That is too bad that Baxter will again miss the Footlocker National cross country meet, another instance of a career being sacrificed to build up the reputation of a coach.
