True, perhaps that was Alan's problem with going for the toupee...
CONGRATS ALAN!!! Can't wait to see the stroller out there with y'all!
Women generally don't announce pregnancies until after 3 months and the risk of miscarriage has mostly passed. My friend shared her pregnancy early, lost the baby, and then had to continually answer questions and tell people that her baby didn't make it. It magnified the grieving process. Webb's wife's announcement does seem a little early... She's also hardly showing at all, although it takes awhile on the first one because the muscles and ligaments haven't been stretched out yet. Hopefully everything goes smoothly for them.

Not a good idea to be spreading the word on a first pregnancy during the first trimester. I know too many people that have had miscarriages.
I believe Allan"s had some hair work!
alan webb is such a mess he cant handle his own life he has had way to many ups and downs but mostly downs having a kid it will be tough for him honestly I have noticed many runners at this point in life and webb could be attemping to make his final olympics age is getting to him if he cant do it this time then I believe its over another four years will go by and I just don't think he will do that besides the best middle distance runners peak at about 30 years then go for longer distances like bernard but yeah about the kid people you need to be quiet you guys aren't good to say what could happen ot the kid but I believe that this kid will be different from his messed up dad he isn't stable this kid might just turn out to be a nerd and not like running because you can't encourage someonw to like running they need to feel the passion by themselves that competetiveness so don't have to high of expectations for him he might turn out to be a pot head or a cocaine user or an alcoholic you get my point the future isn't always what you envision it to be!

The baby is due the week of the Trials. How will that affect his chances?
I'm honored to be the first person to reply with the obligatory sexist joke!
I think it will improve his chances. Anyone who has been around a pregnant woman should know that an expectant husband will generally do anything he can to get out of the house!
Seriously though, congratulations!
Doing some shrooms Dr. Phil ?
Congratulations to Alan and Julia! Being a parent is the.greatest thing ever. Good luck!

I'm imagining
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GGHtZ-vHgMbut the kid will have much less hair.
My plan wasn't to tell until the 2nd trimester but Alan was really excited and surprised me with telling the crowd at Nike x Southeast. After 10 weeks, the risk for miscarriage drops quite a bit.
My mom had 2 miscarriages - both late (after 4 months, 5 months) - in her 40s. I know this is a risk, and I pray it doesn't happen. I'll cross that bridge if it happens.
Less than 2 weeks, I'll be on the line at cross country club nationals in Seattle and I'd rather let it be known that I'm pregnant.
Congrats to Alan and Julia! I'm sure it was tough for Alan to hide his excitement, it is for most men who find out they are going to be a father.
Of coarse people are going to bash everything that he does, its the status quo here on Letsrun. The reality is that Alan and Julia are excited and don't give a sh!t what the anonymous cowards on here think.

Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome? Does she have lupus by any chance?
Alan Webb's Olympic prospects will be unaffected by the due date.
They remain at 0%.
Also, note Alan's left hand.
Congratulations to you both and best of luck with your races! I have always been a fan of Alan's. I hope he makes the team.

You are correct. This won't change anything. Congrats to him though!
Alan Webb: awesome runner and soon-to-be-parent. You: neither. You lose.
Nope, I'll never run a mile-10k as fast as he did but he'll never touch my Marathon times or earn as much (based on my profession vs his) as I will over a lifetime! ;)
Kids I have but (most) anyone can have those so it's not a biggie.
That means Webb has had sex at least once!!!!
Umm, Rojo and Wejo can you give the credit for the announcement to this page
