Guy won the West Region today in convincing fashion. Unless he gets sick or someone cuts off his leg then I just dont see him losing on the 21st. So the question is..... Who is running for 2nd place?

Yes.
He will be stopped.
Monday 21st November.
Terre Haute, Indiana, USA.
All I know is that with a 600 to go he better hold form cause Batty is going to be coming.
I really like watching Batty race.

Batty is definitly not the guy who would beat him. Lenny Korir is.
Lalang just ran 28:08 on wet grass? Is that right? The gap between him and 2nd was huge
after today I wouldn't say Batty will "definitely" not challenge Lalang. He chased down the likes of Cam Levins and Diego Estrada who are easily top 5 contenders and made them look bad. Batty has become an xc monster this fall.
I agree that Korir probably has the best shot...I think Korir will run with Lalang from the gun. But I also think it's going to hurt him. Batty is going to have a good chase pack to chase with and I think he'll be the one to "kick away" from it.
And I really, really don't like BYU.

Nevermind, the time I heard was incorrect
I have watched him run all the time and guess what, he is not going to allow anyone win that easy. You have to be willing to run under 28:30 as I am seeing him getting that record for Sam Chelang'a. That dude is a beast men. I hope it won't be too cold since that might affect him, I mean Indiana and Arizona is not the same when it come to coldness.
Who cares if Lawi or Korir win it doesn't count. If Derrick gets 3rd behind those two, he still wins in my book. Beating them is just a bonus
Are you serious? he ran them down and made them look bad?? you do realize one of the guys you mentioned ran with for a team birth and cared less about winning the race. Go look at wisconsin results and you tell me if batty has a shot. dummy
Yeah, Lawi is as foreign as they come. He speaks English about as well as a 4 year old. I'm not trying to be racist, even if it comes across like that. It just is not fair to view him as a NCAA champ if he wins. Become a US citizen first. I would say the same thing about lukas V.
Yes.
He will be stopped.
All that needs to happen is some cold weather to drop in on Terre Haute and Lawi will be hurtin!

Just like Batty ran him down a Wisconsin right...?
Please...Lalang could outrun Batty while carrying cinder-blocks in his pocket...

Isn't the only criteria to be NCAA champ is #1 Win NCAAs and #2 Kinday by default be in the NCAA?

Are you kidding? Yeah, yeah, I like to talk crap about BYU, but this has nothing to do with why I know that Batty won't beat Lalang. The two athletes aren't even comparable. Lalang has been absolutely crushing everyone this year and nobody will be close at the championships. Lalang could stop, pick up an injured runner after 3/4 of a mile, carry him all the way back to the start, and then re-start the race and he'd still win. That's how much better than everyone else he is.
Yes lets point out that Lawi is a "foreigner" and isolate him from the "American-born" NCAA'ers. Put an asterisks next to his name because he's hungry to win despite his nationality, poverty and other disadvantages that he overcame to kick the asses of the American-born, McDonald's raised, couch-potato, football/baseball/basketball wanna-be failures who had no choice but to run XC and track and to their credit got to
the NCAAs (DI nontheless). Take another look at our shitty american running system and stop ignoring our shortcomings by focusing on (and hating) what our foreign-born counterparts are showing us --- the talent WE lack.
Lawi will probably win because he's amazing but even more so, he will win because none of the top guys who could challenge him want to waste their time doing so! They are far more concerned about having their team win and pulling the rest of their pack along, keeping the balance. Trying to keep up with him would put that in jeopardy, so nobody who can, will!
