Great run once again.
He is damn consistent. Now a PR and he's closer to 40 than 30.

He seems to be a shoo-in for the Oly team at this point. Athens was eight years ago. Wow.
And in Skechers, for god's sake.
MEB! MEB! MEB!
Those skechers helped him find those extra few seconds.
He was seen to use a skateboard in key downhill sections. His result is under review.

Meb continues to shine, showing that he and Hall are the top two marathoners in the U.S. hands down. His performance today was inspiring, as he hung on gamely and set a new PR. I can't wait to see how he does in Houston. Go Meb!
I don't understand what the big deal is. 2:09 is not that great for an African born Marathon runner.
Conrtatulations Meb. You successfully put yourself in a position of doubt to make the Olympic Team. And a guarantee for failure in the Olympics if you do make the team.

Meb wasn't going to medal at the OGs. Running this race well was likely in his best financial interest and at this point in his career that's probably the best move.

And you keep your Olympic silver medal where?
Great race as usual. I wonder how it compares to Hall's.

I'll give props to Meb. He's never run a 2:06, but he kept in the group on that pace anyway; you'll never know unless you at least try.
Sure, he didn't have what it took to keep up after 20, but he gave it a shot, stopped to puke, and still got a PB, albeit with a 'measly' 2:09. He gave it his all and showed some great guts. He deserves some appreciation for his race effort...he did actually 'race' instead of 'running his own race'.
Nice job, Meb.
As usual, Meb raced the competition. As usual, he hung with the leaders and covered every move until he could no longer hang on, then still gutted out a PR. Say what bad you want, but Meb is the only American RACING the marathon at an international level. Hall would go out there and run a time trial that has nothing to do with the competition. He might end up faster, but then again who was faster the last time they raced in NYC?
NY may be pretty close to the Olympic Trials, but the guy has to make a living. The Trials don't pay appearance money and the prize money is pretty weak past compared to NY.
Once again, Meb delivered by being a part of the race for the win late in the game. There were just 5 guys better today.
just from a viewing perspective, i found it it incredibly enjoyable to see meb hanging on until the big move by mutai. he'd occasionally look like he was falling off the back after smaller surges, but then moved back up into the pack.
great effort.
The NYC Course is far more challenging than Boston. When it was time to pull away from the field it was less difficult to keep the pace at Boston than it would be in NYC.
Meb actually races which is what I like. I feel that if it was a race between Meb and Hall today, Meb would have won.
Props to Meb. He ran a prop inspiring race. He propped up near the lead the whole race and I loved those geriatric socks propping up his calves that are just like the ones my grandmother wears.
props.

I've done both and found Boston more challenging. It just seemed like there were no flat sections. I've also heard that they flattened out the last few miles in Central Park recently? (I ran NYC in 2005)

Yeah they brought in huge steamrollers and squashed those hills right down flat. WTMF?!? Punch yourself in the face.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
