25th mile in 4:41.

The crazy thing is the NY course record will likely be faster than Chicago's!!!

So, great debate, would Mary have won if she had not run like a fool? Why do elites still make elementary mistakes.

Ego. I wonder if she would have gone out so hard if Shobukhova hadn't just posted such a fast time?[/quote]

Mary could have gone out in 70 minute and won it. 68 was suicidal--I don't know what she was thinking--or not thinking.

And Mutail is a monster.

Slightly off-topic but more thoughts on curtis:

I'm sure 2:13 (how it looks like he'll finish up) won't be what he wanted or maybe what people expected but for a guy who ran mile-3k-5k only in college it ain't bad.

His best event now is the 10k and this marathon experience and training will certainly improve his strength for the 10k.

In the future I can see him running a great marathon but he probably just doesn't have the aerobic background or experience yet.

So I guess running NYC after the Pan Am marathon 2 weeks prior wasn't the best idea after all....(!)

It really should be Kirui, G Mutai and Mosop. Makau's world record might get him picked over Mosop, but Mosop being on G Mutai's tail at Boston is in my mind superior.

The universal sports announcers are awful. Why is this Meb's "race of his life"? He only beat his PR by 3 seconds.

Wow. She blew up worse than Keitany. Kidane was right with the chasing pack until Dado and Deba set off on their own.
