So I have devised a formula which should do a good job at predicting your 800m time. All you need is your best 400m time and your best 1600m time.
The formula:
- 6/5(best 400m) + 1/5(best 1600m) = 800m time
For example, if your best 400m time is a 50s and your best mile is a 5:00:
6/5(50) + 1/5(5:00)
= 60s + 1:00
= 2:00 800m
The formula can also be edited if you know your 400m, know your GOAL 800m, but don't know your 1600m.
The formula:
2(GOAL 800m) + 3[(GOAL 800m) - 2(Best 400m)]
For example, if your best 400m is 50s, & your GOAL 800m is 2:00, but you need to know your required (or recommended) 1600m time:
2(2:00) + 3[2:00 - 2(50s)]
= 4:00 + 3(2:00 - 1:40)
= 4:00 + 3(0:20)
= 4:00 + 1:00
= 5:00
This formula can be useful for those who know they have the speed for the 800m, but don't know if they have the endurance.
So does it work for you?
