Based on this weekend, I can see Lalang taking it out hard, Korir going with him, and then Korir blowing up hard. Hopefully Korir was just in the middle of a heavier training cycle than Lalang and that's why he said his race was a struggle. If it's a matter of fitness, I think Lalang takes it easily. If Korir is just training ridiculously hard right now and can peak right for nationals, I see him overtaking Lalang.
As for the rest of the top 5, I see Levins in 3rd, Ryan Hill in 4th and Estrada or Colby Lowe in 5th. Does anybody know what's up with Girma? Is he healthy?

Sure, might be overly optimistic, but I think Derrick could do it. Hopefully German comes back on track. I still believe he is the most talented in the nation, just needs to go 4 months without injury.
You're all forgetting Trevor Dunbar...
aka the Teflon Donn
Most talented runner in the NCAA by far, however according to an flotrack interview, Lawi only runs 50 miles a week. I do not think that he will be able to win the full 10k, remember Wisco and Griak have been 8ks. 2k is a lot longer to run, especially at the end of 5 miles. Lawi as also not shown any poise and strategy in his racing. Both races he took the lead, and especially at Wisco, the pack seemed to chase him down. Deigo says he can chase him down, Derrick says that he will chase Lawi down, Luke Puesadra is a 10 specialist and really balled at Terre Haute last year, Lenny his the NCAA 10k champ, and has much more XC experience.
I think Lawi will lose to at least one of these guys, if not more.
Like it matters. XC does not get you a major medal.

Yeah . . . they got within what, 15 seconds of him? Two more kilometers making all the difference - give me a break, Lawi FTW.
Why is everyone so high on Estrada? Am I missing something?

Where did you see these quotations?
Hey guys, I'm Eric Moore and I'm a freshmen at Wofford College and I think I have what it takes to be in the top 5! I have been making steady improvements over the season and Im really confident of my chances. Every day I give it my best and look to the good Lord for

Dunbar finished a few seconds ahead of Collins, who transferred to Wisconsin, where he is probably getting better training and is like more motivated for his one shot at a national title (sort of like Anthony Ford who transferred in 2005 and scored just ~14 points as the fifth Badger). And Collins does seem to be running right with Ahmed and Darling
Here is 2010 with returning runners included (a couple might not be relevant this year). The * are the OSU/Wisconsin guys most of whom are not being listed while those near them keep popping up. Bayer from Indiana talked about having 4-5 All-Americans (top 40), but I think that OSU and Wisconsin will both have five All-Americans and the scoring points will be starting in single digits. Derrick, Riley and Puskedra did not look any better than the Wisconsin five that followed closely behind (with no reason to push to be higher except keeping Lutz at bay). I could see Wisconsin scoring as few as 66 points (same as adidas) and losing to a 55-60 from OSU [Girma would have allowed them to be as good as cutting that 60 by a third].
Of course, over 10k anything can happen (GF's achilles, Krause's collapse), but IF all goes well (for both teams), other teams are running for the other steps on the podium.

And if he had not fallen out with 600+meters to go, Krause would have been about 15/13
watch for estrada to try and go out with lenny korir and lawi lalang and end up paying the price for it by not finishing top 10. In terms of xc strength he is at the same level as guys like Derrick,Puskedra,Ahmed,Lowe,Girma, Riley. I admire his heart but he tries to run at a level he is not at (ie with the kenyans). look for Ryan Hill to run a smart race and pick off those falling off the pace and sneak in a top 10 spot
1. Lawi Lalang- Can break everyone with ease. No one holds on to him. He will only get better.
2. Leonard Korir- Has a solid kick that will give him the edge for second.
3. Paul Chelimo(sleeper)- Going out on a limb, but this guy has been destroying his comp this year and likes to go out very hard.
4. Diego Estrada- Senior Pride and is running very tough and determined.
5. Chris Derrick- Extremely talented and runs well in competitive/national XC races.
