The semifinals for the 5000 will be starting here in about an hour and a half. How does everybody think they'll play out? If the USA can get 3 guys to the final it would be a miracle, but Lagat should make it and Rupp ha an 80% chance I would say.

Rupp! Rupp! Rupp! Rupp! Rupp! Rupp! Rupp!
Rupp and Roll ain't noise pollution!
Lagat would have to fall not to make it so I would say 95% chance he is in. I think Rupp about 80% chance as well. I am from Tennessee and have known about Bumbalough since his early years of high school so I am really pulling for him. The best thing that could happen is for his heat, heat 2, to be alot faster than heat 1, giving him a much better shot of getting in on time. It may be pretty tough for him otherwise.
are there any live streams?
Does the 80% chance for Rupp encompass the real risk that he will fall at some point. If so than 80% is very good. Seriously. 20 runners in the race. Its a heat so likely it will be slow with runners bunched up and frantically trying to get good positioning for the final couple laps. Its a recipe for an ugly race. Unless perhaps some runners are not at an elite level and will be left behind early in the race.

Rupp has a decent kick off of a slow pace, but can he really do it after a 10k a few days ago where he just looked flat? I say no, but I'm rooting for him.

Barring injury or a fall Rupp has a 99% chance. Including the probability of aforementioned unfortunate event leaves his chances at precisely 93.76%

He's had plenty of time to recover. I'd be surprised if he doesn't advance.

Based upon the towels on all of the shotputters' heads, I'd say it is pretty hot already in Daegu.
