Rudisha makes it look easy Kaki and the Russian give valiant chase but its not close Symmonds nicely in the mix but didn't have the gears of the top guys. Kinda echoes the sentiments of Rupp - right up there but, for this race, didn't have what was needed to medal. He seemed pretty disappointed compared to the others. Knows what he needs for the next year |
| Do you people even run? |

Yup. He put himself in just the right spot, but he started moving backwards with 200 to go. |

Symmonds totally boxed 550-700. He could have medalled. Same type of mistake as his Beijing semi. He was grabbing his head after the raced - obviously disappointed. |

And a very slow time! Note there are four white dudes in the final and one medals. Africans are no longer dominating. |

A real shame Symmonds got boxed so badly. He finished well once in the open, but it was far too late. Don't know that it was anything he did, just that he suddenly had no room to run and even got tripped up a bit with ~200 to go. |

And the one that medals is the 2004 olympic champ, big deal. At least order has been restored in this world championship, I was wondering what the heck has been going on these few days. Jeilan, Blake, Jason robin whathisname.... |

That Masai boy David Rudisha is such a beautiful runner. Totally in his own class. Wasn't close and he didn't even break a sweat. Weird the fast finishers seemed lethargic here and didn't do anything. |

Symmonds ran a perfect race until 180m left--letting that guy come by, clip him, and box him was inexcusable....he should have moved up there--the pace wasn't that fast. He looked a bit flat too. Too bad, a silver was possible today. |

why not aim higher, i.e. for gold? |

Did you see the daylight between Rudisha and the others? And he was actually pulling away. |

I was actually very worried for Rudisha with 300 to go. It looked very close and I haven't seen this guy run such a slow race for the first 400. I am now confident that he can run any type of race and win for as long as he's healthy. |

That's right! And two white gys in the 400, including one bronze medallist. Another medallist in the 110 HH. A finalist in the 100m. Rupp was right there until the bell. This just proves that there is no black genetic advantage and that if white work hard they can win it all next year in London. |

By "win it all", I assume that you mean, "medal in something." Right, white? |
| Nice try, Hitler |

Let's go Whites! Work hard so you can beat the Blacks! I hope they show a White vs. Black medal tally at the end of each day so we can track their progress. |

Symmonds did have his patented 300m-all-out kick from last place. I think he moved up too early, about 500m out, and then didn't pour it on hard enough with 200m to go. Maybe he didn't have enough in the tank after the rounds, because as the time shows he didn't run his fastest race and his kick should have been there. |

Borza should have won that thing. He went out way too fast fearing getting boxed later in the race |

Gave everyone a chance and still hammered the field! |

Some of the Americans are at least running confidently. They seem to think they can go wide coming off the last turn and out sprint everybody. Symmonds could have started sprinting a little earlier and followed Kaki on the inside to 4th. Of course, watching Kaki fade in the semis, maybe the thinking was that Kaki didn't have the kick today and wasn't the guy to follow. Symmonds did endure some jostling with 200m to go which through his rhythm off a little. It's hard to go around the 3 best 800m runners in the world at the end when they haven't gone off in 50 flat on the first lap and are just holding it together at the end. |

Don't know how many of you guys have been in an all out balls to the wall sprint and get nudged like he did, but it can end your chances pretty darn quick. Not saying it always will, but for just an instant you lose your focus, rhythm, and most importantly your momentum. In a WC 800 final, real tough to come back from that unless you are the class of the field. As soon as I saw his arm pop up to regain his balance I knew he wasn't going to medal. A real bummer too because I really think he could have. Ran a great race, got unlucky. |
