Centro ran with great confidence, or at least gave that impression. Slow race, and maybe he was fortunate to avoid getting boxed in, but he did well and was up to the task of a sub-53 final circuit. Looked super comfortable out there.

My god. For everyone who wants a textbook lesson on how to run a heat. WATCH A TAPE OF THAT.
Centrowitz was sensational. That was a piece of artwork.
Shortly after the gun went off, I thought - "Man centro looks calm and confident. Such poise for a college guy."
It was hard to not contrast that to panic Webb often runs with as Webb seems burdened by expectations.
Then when Centro moved up to the lead on the rail at the bell - I was like - Amazzing, he hasn't left the rail and he's in the lead at the bell.
Incredible!!!

Throw in a dash of lucky there that he got the opening on the inside just before the bell. It could have been very different for him if that hole didn't open.
Leo doesn't look comfortable at all.
Perfect tactics by Centro - slowed it down from the front then kept in contact and let the opposition know he can kick in the straight
Depends on how the final unfolds but he can medal
What just happened to your other guy in the straight?!
Nice leo. just so nice
How about Willis in 9th with 50m to go? Had to really hammer down 2 dudes at the bitter end to the last q...
Heat #2 .
Kirprop looked great!!!!
But how about Olionaird wr however you spell it. From NCAA goat to world championship final.
What was wrong with WIllis? What's that wrap on his leg?
Is he hurt like Wheating. What a bummer.
DKK should never ben on a Kenyan team again. Seriously outdoors.

He clearly came up lame there over the final 100m. If not for that he had positioned himself to make a run for at least top 7 which in this fast heat was enough.
WTF leo

He was in the hot semi. Too bad.
in april no one would've guessed centro would be the only american in the world championship final
Officially on the Centro Bandwagon now. His last 700m (1:35 low/mid) was 1:49 pace. Solid. With the cool-headed way this guy runs, as soon as his fitness improves to <3:31 we're gonna see him win a LOT of international races. (Not that he can't win races already on 3:34 fitness).
As a follow-up question, where does Centro's kick come from? I'd say it's his 5000m ability, but Lagat's far-superior strength didn't help him win the USA title. How fast can this guy run an 800m?

Didn't Lagat have races the previous two days on that occasion?
What the HELLZ happened to Laalou and Komen?
A lot of really established guys didn't make it - Kamel, Laalou, Komen, Mekonnen. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see Centrowitz in the top six in the final, and I'd hope for something even better.
I just talked to employee #1. He can confirm that Nick Willis was on a stretcher in the medical tent with something on both his leg and head.
He tried to film it but they wouldn't let him.
Yes, but I think Lagat took those races pretty chill. Apparently Centro's PRs are 1:47.77/3:34/7:50/13:47. How the hell is he outkicking any of these big shots?? He doesn't have any of them beat on speed OR endurance...
