Not hard to understand at all. AC says you need an A to go (with one exception, see below). Neither Brannen, Milne, nor Martinson had an A, but they all had Bs.

The exception is for young guys with potential, they may select guys with Bs as Rising Stars. Both Brannen and Milne had been to show before, so they chose to go with Martinson as a Rising Start to give him the experience.

Turned out to be a good call in my estimation.

Now hopefully next year, all 3 will get the A and they all go to the Olympics.

He bounces around like he has never run in a pack before. He was all out the last 100 and ended up 8th, Lionaird went by him like he was standing still. Not looking good for the final let alone a medal. Centro Jr. looked better but will need a great race to make the final.

Hmm just realised got Manzano mixed up with Centrowitz in prediction contest

Anyway I reckon Centrowitz is an outside shot for a medal. He's got that change of pace you need if he is in contention at 200m he can do some damage. Looks like that Komen will take off in the final though and if the American's sit in they will be dropped

Centro drew the semis with the only two men to recently break 3:30 in Kiplagat and Laalou plus the reigning World Champion, Kamel and the top Ethiopian, Gebremedhin.

Manzano drew Olympic medalists Kiprop and Willis plus veteran Komen who has run sub 3:30 in the past.

I think Manzano got the better draw and is fit.
He should advance IF he runs smart.
Centro may show that he is the better racer.

They both have at least 7 faster guys in their heat, though.

Risely will always fail on the bigger stages as long as he insists on running most of his races so timidly.

The guy has a decent kick, but at WC-level it's nothing special. Trouble is, whenever he runs against ordinary fields, he never takes the race on... always happy to sit back and kick home in an ordinary time for the win.

Gregson went into the WC off a pretty bad calf injury, was ill a few days ago, and still qualified for the semi's. Why? Because he's got balls.

Risely really needs to grow a pair. Next time he's racing against a field he knows he's got covered, rather than settling for a sit-kick win in a mediocre time, I'd love to see him take it on early in the race. Get used to making the race, rather than hanging back.

Cause that's what he needed to do in his heat the other day, but for some reason just couldn't or wouldn't do it.

Manzano bounces between Good Leo and Bad Leo. Bad Leo scraped through the heats. Good Leo will easily make the final.

Then...

If no American makes the finals in the 1500 than we are back in the dark days of the Lunn and Jennings era (2000-2005).

US runners are a lot faster than they were a decade ago, but they still don't know how to race. Webb is a perfect example of this.

Yes. Lots to get excited about with Rupp, Uceny and Centro. Lagat too but he's no surprise.
