His last 400 was 53.37, his last 200 was ~27.0, and his last 100 was ~13.5.
What exactly should he have done differently? I thought his execution was excellent. There's just not much you can do when someone else closes in sub 53.

Totally agree. He dominated Merga just like he did at Prefontaine not to mention the rest of the field. The only difference is this one Ethiopian unknown who had an amazing finish.
He tied up in the last 200, 'cause he shot his wad in the previous 200, he should have stayed even and then went. 20/20 hind sight.

Completely agree, too bad some brainless people think otherwise.
He went too early
Better to learn this lesson now, than in 12 months....
I commented earlier that he could have measured his effort through the line better.
But, must give credit to Jeilan for a great finish.
Farah's effort normally should have been enough to win.
Isn't racing great?

Whose to say the young Ethiopian wouldn't have outkicked him if Mo waited till 200. Maybe Mo didn't go early enough? He ran a very good race. Silver isn't to be discounted so easily.
Silver medals go to the 1st loser!

Based on your comment, what you are trying to put across is that Mo Farah's loss was inevitable. That there was ABSOLUTELY nothing he could have done differently to have gotten the gold medal. Im pretty sure Mo doesn't feel that way.
Dead on , you had a young athlete prepared to kick and in Ethiopian fashion , team effort and fast over the last 200. Taking it out of them by kicking 4-500 out is silly on his coaches part. Go hard but be prepared to go harder.
I think most people think he choked because he feels like he choked. Sally Kipyego go the same place but was happy so everyone was happy for her. Mo ran a great race but any time you go in as the favorite and don't win you are going to be disappointed in your self.
Seems like a lot of people don't know what "choked" means. Hint: It doesn't meant "didn't get the result you wanted."

The named you posted under is misleading... But to the point, you hit the nail on the head right there. He had a lot of hype going into this and who knows maybe a silver is what he needed right now. It'll get him hungry for the olympics and he'll shoot for gold there.
you are right to say this is not a choke
he botched his attempt by executing to early, but choke implies that he failed to execute
i think it's better than he got a silver in the context of his 2012 gold aspirations

This, combined with your previous post, goes to prove the point...
You're an idiot.
Farah didn't choke. He was simply beaten by a better runner on the day. This was serendipitous for 2012, as he will be better prepared. Rupp too.

What does that make you
I completely agree. Farah ran 53.37 on top of a 60 second penultimate lap. He may have went too early, but excluding Jeilan, he gapped the field and none of us really expected Jeilan could slaughter the giant.
If he had waited... well, what makes you think that Jeilan might have beaten him in those circumstances? Bekele "went too early" in Athens AND Beijing, recorded the kind of last lap speed as Farah, and it was enough to win. I really feel for Mo Farah, it must really be hard for him to believe that he was so close and yet he was to be denied.
"Why does everyone think Farah choked?"
Because he as the undefeated (this year) world leader at 5k and 10k, and odds on favorite didn't win. That's why.
no choke just a basic a**whipping in the last 50m
