reported let this thread die-
no.
why not?
just saw it on the ABC news ticker. A powell is out!
It looks official. Now lets sit back and let the rumor mongers have at it.
When the new drug testing was announced, many predicted we would see a lot of athletes pulling out of competition due to 'injury'. We all know that at any major competition, athletes will get injured as they try to get the most from their bodies in training.
What does it say that a lot of sprinters have pulled out due to injury but not so many distance runners? Are spinters pushing their bodies harder to try to close the gap with Bolt possibly?

I hate this. I just want to see the best dudes race. Is that too much to ask for?

Does anybody know whether we have had more people drop out than usual this year? I think that would be an interesting research topic. Hopefully WADA keeps track of these things.

I agree. Not much to look forward to in the 100m.

so using logic makes someone a monger? think critically, please.
this year has seen Powell as the world leader at 100m. 2011 has been his best year with his fastest times in over three years. this is a guy who has failed to meet expectations at championships. he held the word record for 3 years yet only earned two world bronze medals over 100m.
he is owning 2011 despite a .02 loss to Bolt. he ran 9.86 on July 30th, only 26 days ago.
so as the 28 year old world leader pulls out amid new progressive drug screenings, it's more about logical analysis than inciting a rumor mill.
straight up suspect.
#1 sprinter in the world running much slower than 2 years ago.
#2 and #3 pull out with injuries
2 more in the top 10 out for banned substances.
Where there is smoke....
bolt was injured last year and overcompensated with the lifting which has slowed him.
i cant say for sure if asafa or gay are doping but I bet at least one of them are clean. i hope.

what does "logical" mean to you?
Powell is already in Korea. I believe he may have already been tested so this should not look suspect.
asafa is definitely clean

More dopers in sprint/power events and steroids stay in the body longer than EPO especially when blood test used instead of urine
