26 accounting $0.00. (this year was basically a combination of parents help, some stock income and severance package $.....i took a job making 57K out of college 2-3 years ago but i was miserable. quit that shit pretty quickly.) moved out west to altitude & run 80mpw as an amateur running bum. this much more fun to do than to do what i majored in. at some point i will need to get a part-time job but at least im living it up and lovin life more than being a cog |

I actually enjoyed reading this thread. When you take into consideration that most people are going to high-ball what they make (but probably not outright lie) than you can get a pretty good idea of what the average joe makes out there at jobs many people may be considering after college. So instead of being bs'd by colleges telling you how great life is going to be with a degree at their "institution of higher learning" you can get some primary data that will be a little more honest.

I'm salaried and get benefits, but close enough. What I do is actually closer to EE than ME, but if it pays the bills for a year or two I'm not gonna complain. I don't know why people think everyone is lying in this thread. You have a bunch of engineers posting typical engineer salaries, and some questionably high ones. The only one I really doubt is the OP, since that kind of money would make him one of the top online players. |

I'm sure this thread has some instances of salary exxageration, but for the most part everything looks believable. Except the guy making $95,000 as a shoe salesmen. Unless you own the store, or you're peddling drugs out of the back, I find that hard to believe. |
