Try to find a way to stick with the Nimbus. Look for older Nimbus models. Do some work around the house for Mom and Dad and see if they'll help you out. You are going to be spending the summer without much spending money to go out and entertain yourself so you better at least stay healthy so you can burn a lot of hours running.
Yeah, I've found the old Nimbus for about $80, which might be might choice if I find it in my size. I've worn Nimbuses for about 5 years, and although the models change, they're always adequate.
I appreciate the concept of staying with a shoe, but I've run successfully in the others...I had no leg problems in the Pegasus, for example, but they caused my orthotics to rip chunks out of my foot so I'd be hesitant to go that way again.
I don't need "high end" necessarily, if you don't consider Pegasus high end, but I want something well cushioned and reasonably flexible (which is why i hated the Progrid Triumph...stiffest shoe ever!).
As an addendum, I'd help out around the house if I wasn't 700 miles from home! Said unpaid internship is on the east coast; home is Chicagoland. I'm not asking for more money either, since they're already shelling out huge amounts for my tuition.
I can definitely suck it up and get the Nimbus if I decided I must; it's just that my savings account is getting depressingly low. I'd rather get a 55-65 dollar stopgap for a month or so until I get my team discount during the season.
Has anyone tried the Saucony Ride 3?
Or a lower end asics like the Gel Landreth?
Brooks Defyance?
Do any of those compare well to the Nimbus? (forgetting durability)
