Skechers has signed Meb Keflezighi to a deal. Should be interesting to see how brand cuts into running space. Deal done by @leverageagency.
Meb probably actually believed Flagpole's hype (or others like him) about the economy. Should have taken whatever Nike wanted to offer him right away, rather drag things out, trying to get a better deal, as the economy gets worse and worse. Now, he's been schooled on the reality of the Obama Depression.
What shoes is he going to run in?? The ones with the wheels in the heel?
I heard he will be running in the shape-ups

I bet he'll be scary fit after wearing those for a while.
Alot of men died for Meb's right to sign with whomever he freely chooses.

They're called Heelies d00d, and if Meb ran a marathon in those he'd totes run like 1:30!!!!!

He could do what Bill Rodgers and others have done: Train in whatever he wants and wear the sponsor's shoes only when in public.

I've seen his @ss, he's been running in shape-ups for a while now
I cracked
I confess to not even knowing what Skechers are
Probably these: http://www.skechers.com/style/66572/shape-ups-x-wear-foster/brn
Does this mean Meb has to race in Skechers? Do they even make flats?
Pretty upsetting. Dude is a silver medalist and won the NYC marathon, he should not have to sign with skechers. Imagine if Ritz had those credentials? Nike would be giving him 2mil a year
I'm sure Nike made a reasonable offer, but it seems like Meb (or Merhawi) is notoriously hard to please these days. Although you might have a point that Ritz wouldn't likely face this situation.
Nike has a reputation of dropping athletes as they come to the end of their career.
Tim Hacker was dropped the week after winning cross nationals.
Abdi will be all done after 2012.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
