Wow, when he runs a race, he does it in the best possible way. Mo Farah is on top of the world this year, and will be tough to beat in Daegu, but let me tell you. Lagat may have a chance.

Everyone on this site will still claim Rupp is legitimately better than Lagat despite him being the fastest American ever over 5000m and that he stands a better shot in a Championship race based on his London performance. Guess what happens in a championship race? People get bunched up and push each other, and we all saw how well that worked out for Rupp.

Today's race proved that with great racing tactics, Lagat will win Gold. Farah outsmarted everyone.

Congratulations to Lagat. Savviest runner I've ever seen. Never in trouble. No, he didn't win, but he's also like 8 years older than Farah. He's an old man out there. Experience is serving him very well.

Great time. It would have been nice if the pacers kept everyone on pace through 3rd and 4th Kilo. 3k was 7:47, when it was supposed to be about 7:43 to get them under 12:50. Still ran 12:53. Nice run.

Solinsky and Rupp need to lock themselves in a room with Lagat and find out how he does it. Lagat always is in the middle of a big pack and never seems to have any problem with it.

He's an American, because he chose to come here and become an American. Just like millions of others from all over the world. Being born here is an advantage, but it doesn't mean you're any less American than anyone else.

Kenyan or American or whatever, you have to take your hat off to Lagat, he almost always delivers the goods. No he didn't run 12:49, no he didn't win, but he is a master of his trade and much respect to him.
