That sucks so much for both of them. American Record though!!!
MERGA IS FUCdfKING ASSHjOLE I HATE HIM SO MUCH , HE DIDI IT IN EUGENE HE DID IT NOW !!!!! Solinsky should kick his ass !!!!!!!!!!!
I'm starting to hate these 2. Finish a damn race! Solinsky has about 60 pounds on Merga how does he get shoved into the infield?
He has done it in every track race this year. He shoves his was through the crowd impeding people everywhere he goes and has not be DQed yet for some reason. He clearly deserves a DQ here.
The look on Solinsky's face spoke volumes to me...he was faking it! What the fvck is going on here???!?!!!?!!
On the live feed Solinsky went flying off the track into some plants on the infield. He was in good position. Too bad.
I like Solinsky, but it kind of seemed like he gave up. His tantrum looked fake.

Why on Earth would he fake it??
Rupp went down with 3 laps to go
Solinsky only had 2 and he was in a pretty good position
Historically, Merga has simply been a pusher, although I am quite surprised that he managed to knock them both out of the race this time. If anything, he did finally get Rupp for outkicking him a few weeks ago...
Solinsky looked like he was looking for a way out.
"His tantrum looked fake"
agreed!
something fishy!
Yea, exactly. There was no attempt to get back in the race.
The potential for this actually occured to me days ago when I was trying to predict finishes. There were a lot of runners in the race and a lot of them were very close to the same level. There is only so much space in a track. Do the math.

Totally agree. He didn't want to finish that race. If he had actually been shoved off the track and wanted to get back in it, you would have seen him EXPLODE. Sol is not an "aw shucks, I just got pushed off the track by a 109 pound Ethiopian" kind of guy. Something fishy is going on with him and probably Rupp, too. As soon as the pace went south of 13:00, I'm betting they each had instructions to get the fvck out of there.

Bullsh** Solinsky got fouled and went off the track, hit some plants, etc. and was out of it; 5-6 steps back with two laps left is "out of the real racing"!!!!!!!
So will Solinsky and Rupp run another 5000 before Worlds...or wait till Zurich/Brussels afterward?

Yeah they were looking to jump out of the race. think about what you are saying.
There were only 2 reasons for either of them to enter the race:
-Place
-Time
Rupp was pushed down with 3 laps to go
Solinsky was pushed into a line of plants with 2 laps to go
You think its easy to lose ALL your momentum and get back into a 5000m race on the last 2-3 laps???
2001 World Championships:
Suzy on being bumped with more than a lap to go in her 1500 semifinal and her decision to step of the track at the bell: "Once you break your rhythm like I did, it's hard to get back. So with a lap to go, I thought, 'There's no way I'll catch them. I've lost too much distance.' So instead of wearing myself out on another lap, I decided that I shouldn't finish this one and save myself for Zurich."

Can't help but think there's something in common with these Wisconsin runners.
As much as you guys hate on Merga for shoving people, to a certain extent it is just part of high caliber racing. When you have that many fast athletes in one race there is going to be bumping and shoving. If a 163lb Chris Solinsky gets thrown off the track by a 100lb Merga, Solinsky isn't being aggressive enough.
Not saying Merga should be fouling people left and right like he does but Chris should have just picked him up and thrown him in the steeple pit or something as they ran by.
