I have a road race approaching this weekend, but have been laid up with injury for the past two days.
If I were to get warmed up and race right this minute, the injury would not be likely to affect my performance. On the other hand, I can feel that if I continue to taper and finish up my training this week, I may be unable to run on the weekend.
My question is, if I have been training strong according to plan up until the final week before the race, will taking 7 days off put my body in a non-racing state, or will my body still respond optimally after warming up?
