Awesome running, and she's a very smart runner.
last lap of mile in 64.76
Some pretty sizeable PR's as well.
5K: 16:24.83 -> 26 sec PR (and a 17 sec win)
2M: 10:10.86 -> 7 sec PR
1M: 4:44.76 -> 9 sec PR
Looks like someone to watch on the national XC scene this fall. Was already 10th at Footlocker as a freshman. (39th last year on what must have been an off day.)
9600 meters of racing in 3 days as a 14-15 year old girl is gunning for a risky future.
Does she run three races at nationals every week? Or, like almost every American high school kid, does she "race" about ten low key meets a season with a few hard races sprinkled in?
No reason to hold back at nationals, it's the end of her season. And racing three times in three days once a year isn't going to burn you out.
Great job to Wesley.
Check out her interview after that blazing last lap of the triple. She looked fully recovered within minutes.
That would be 9800 meters, and she should be 15-16 if she just finished her sophomore year. And don't see what 3 hard days of running has to do with her future. Lots of HS athletes triple in the same day.
She has the fastest last 100 I've seen for a HS girl (Lipari slightly better for 200)
15 years old, I think.

Let’s just hope she can stay academically eligible next year.

Why? Won't affect her at NBN at all. Or were you just trying to slip in a dig irrespective of the thread?
9800+ but who's counting?
Did she have a younger sister (Ryen?) running in the 5k, too. How old is she?
Why was Larry Rawson taking her pulse at the end of the interview?
OK, Rawson is kinda tall but he TOWERED over that girl. How tall is she?
She is an eighth grader; going under 18 (barely) is not too bad. However, that triple is, to me, more impressive than the 9:54 because they were quality marks even though she was racing and not after times per se. For her to kick down those other girls in the mile was really impressive. She won state at 800, 1600 and 3200, I think -- she certainly showed good speed when she needed it, as I did not think she had enough room to catch them but she did so easily.
Her kick, on the final 250 metres of the mile was really something. She roasted some quality competition over the weekend.

He should not be touching young women.
Who coaches her? Why did she not run for her school last xc season?
Her HS coach is Leslie Payne.
Also read this on another forum:
from what I understand ( not gospel ) she is coached by her dad.... I'm not sure a school coach could get away with running a kid in a 5k, 2 mile and a 1 mile on 3 successive nights.... there might be repercussions.... only a father could get away with that! ..... but obviously he knew what he was doing.... at least it seemed like it on June 18.... down the road, who knows?.
Wonder if her dad had some good credentials in his day. Plenty of examples of great HS runners who have the fortune of having a running parent to guide them; doesn't take anything away from their efforts, though.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
