Ahem, adults run the world. Have fun working for one someday.
Now I see why so many people hate Oregon.
Now that I've seen the picture it even looks sillier because he seems so serious when he does it. Too bad a great accompishment and you look at the pictures of him with that "scary" expression and he you like laughing because its funny.Reminds of this male HS runner who just won an 800. He comes back to the stands and tells his parents that one of the coaches from another school told him he had a good race. He actually seemed angry and told his parents he felt like telling the coach, "yeah it was a good race I just made your best 800 runner look like a pussy". I over heard this and felt like telling the kid maybe the coach was just showing good sportsmanship but that was the parents role.

It is amazing how many little bitches have their monthly on this board over something like this. It is so minor. Let it go.

Good On You, Matt, and up theirs for all the under-achieving fools on LR and the media tools. You kicked ass, took names and celebrated with the rest of us. You are the man. Lots of little bitches here cannot stand what you just did, you told them to F*ck off. I love it, and so do most track fans in America. Go Matt!!
Here's a question for everyone: Suppose in the upcoming Nationals Lagat sprints away from everyone to win the race easily. And also suppose he does the same slash gesture as he finishes.
Would everyone who is saying Centro's gesture is bad ass say the same thing if Lagat did it in those circumstances? After all, he won the race and he is entitled to celebrate, right?
Or are there different standards of behavior for college kids and 35 year-old world champions and Oly medalists?
I'm just curious.
wow there seems to be a bunch of little bitches on this thread
bunch of f***in second placers
kid just ran a balls out race, and won against a great field - the race of his life thus far
think his adrenaline is probably in the red - if you never won then you wouldn't know what it feels like so i think he can flash his cock if he wants, and i'm sure he's not stressing too much over a bunch of running board weenies who want to cry about it, and report him to the ncaa
get a life - get out there and compete you silly asses
It sounds like he might be a hero to you so you need to attack those who criticize him. But someone close to him ought to do the kid a big favor and tell him he just looks dumb when he does that.Personally I really don't care if he wants to looks dumb. (Although since he won he does reflect on the sport) I mean you really can't see how dumb he looks when he does that? Seriously?

Buddy, this is my opinion, don’t tell me to “chill out”. Seeing interviews of this guy and now after this gesture, I don’t have respect for the kid and I have no respect for the entire Oregon team because of their reputation of being a bunch of babies. You want an example? Look at their coach who couldn’t stand the fact that there is a regional system and how Eugene should host every distance event in this country.
Calling Centro a “scum” may have be a tad bit out of line, but honestly for him to do that especially after what Dorian Ulrey said about him during his post race interview I’ll be rooting for someone else to dethrone this dude next season along with the entire cross country team not winning a national title.
You sound like another wannabe kid. If I identify with the winner I'll be cool and macho like him. I don't get that. You really don't think that looks plain silly? I can see how some gifted athletes start thinking they are entitled.Kids you know better!

You are absolutely right! I see a kid do that and it tells everyone his coach has no control and is weak.(Unless the coach condones it which means the coach is an idiot)
I more vote for "Jackass" here.
Have a little class. When you win, act like you've been there before and will be there again.

Um, he said it before Ulrey's interview. Regardless, you're clearly a youngster, probably HS, and it really doesn't matter what you think.
Where is the video!?!?
... why would he do this? It doesn't even make sense. Put a number one victory sign, or do that Oregon "O" with your hands. I don't understand why he thought this would even be a good idea.
Do you know what did bother me about this whole thread? The number of kids so influenced by his gifted performance that they couldn't even see what he did was stupid and inappropriate.
Do you remember back in high school when there would a one good athlete or one tough badass and around him would be feeble minded wannabe followers that would laugh or praise whatever he did. It reminds me of that.
kinda douchey but at leats he didnt walk away with greer like this:
First off, my impression of the "throat slit" was that he was saying "fini", in other words...it is over, I have succeeded, I have won. It takes a bunch of LR idiots to give their own interpretation and then to be critical based on their own interpretation. Did you fools ask Centro what he meant by it?
The majority opinion on this is...knock it off, it is making a mountain out of something we don't know (not even a molehill, perhaps). That determined, it seems clear that
Winners look at it as "badass"
Losers say it's "jackass:
I'd rather associate with a bunch of winners and let the losers continue to whine and cry amongst themselves. You go get em Centro...you the man.

I agree with this. I like cockiness and think our sport needs more personality. But this gesture, as others have mentioned, is an offense that carries a huge fine in other sports.
It makes more sense in football, rugby, and MMA; even though it is highly frowned upon. He'll look back and realize it was a dumb move.
He should of pulled the "Gobble, Gobble MotherF*****s" move, that would have been a "cocky" move to remember.
You post says a great deal and reflects the mentality of the wannabe who can't see poor sportsmanship from a gifted runner. You realize of course to see this as poor sportsmanship doesn't make YOU ANY MORE OR LESS OF A WINNER. You haven't "associated" with a winner one way or another.
