Gay 9.79 (+1.1)
Mullings 9.80 (+1.3)
Rodgers 9.85 (+1.3)
Carter 9.92 (+1.3)
Patton 9.94 (+1.3)
Frater 9.94 (+1.3)
Ashmeade 9.96 (+1.1)
Gatlin 9.97 (+1.3)
Bledman 9.99 (+1.1)
Padgett 10.00 (+1.1)
Thompson 10.01 (+1.3)
Williams 10.02 (+1.3)
WTF.
Not to mention Carmelo Johnson's 10.70 (+2.0), and all the other women under 11 in Eugene.
Those men's times are insane. I give up.
I know conditions were great everywhere, but come on...even Gatlin breaks 10, very early in June.
Really? Gatlin breaking 10 already, Gay running 9.79 and not even running in the final, Rodgers (!?) 9.85, Mr. Inconsistency Patton back in huge form at 9.94, Mullings the 6th fastest guy in history never to get caught, at 9.80?
Something must have been wrong with the timing in Eugene--all the times were faster by about 0.10
Add 0.10 to the men's times, and they look realistic, relative to what those runners could be expected to be running.
These all look to me like cleanly achievable times, though...JUST.
These would be phenomenal finishing times at the end of a good season--but for early June, they are ridiculous.
Well, for whatever reason, it really is a new era.
If things keep going like this, the SLOWEST time in the 100 final at WC's will be 9.85
Unbelievable.
