Thanks for the responses. Sorry for some confusion. I only play hockey October to April. That's one of the reasons I get out of shape is because I'm too sore to run. I end up only running twice a week during the winter.
Anti-oxidants. Hmmm. Don't know nuthin bout anti-oxidants. I guess I'll read up. Ah, I take vitamin C, does that count?
Swimming eh? Maybe I could do that once per week. I do have an LA Fitness membership that I don't use.
My cats ate and got sick on the foam roller so my wife made me throw it out. On the upside, both cats died so I can get another one. I don't think it had anything to do with the foam roller.
My wife and I talk jokingly about 'hot tub night' but I have no idea if there would be any benefit there.
I think Ivy's routine has some merit. I felt best in the last two years doing a workout and a hard tempo run once per week but I'm not sure which came first, feeling in shape to do the workout or just doing the workout. I usually run by feel and run to the barn on good days. Just haven't felt good enough to run to the barn but once in the last month. 8:0x average for 5 miles and last two miles under 7:45 hinted at some good things.
