Week 311
*************************
Howdy, 50+er's! Tomorrow marks the 6th year anniversary of this thread. Glad that we can keep this experience rolling. It's been fun to share the road (virtually) with y'all. Thanks for the props last week and welcome back over50 (new monicker, over60?). When I think of tenacity, I think off guys like racerdb, or coyote montane, or MikeF, or old guy II, or KP, or SCGal, or any number of these other stellar masters athletes (not to mention the whole SoCal group) who have competed at a high level for many years and continue to do amazing things. Thanks all for sharing your journeys.
OK, on to my week. Getting back from the desert to the humidity has been a little rough, but I did manage to eke out 30 miles on 5 days. Log reads as such:
Sun: 8.1 Easy (8:02/mi)
Mon: Off, sightseeing up to Sedona, Jerome, etc.
Tue: 4.2 Easy-to-moderate (7:25/mi avg)
Wed: Off, jet-lagged
Thu: 5.2 variable (7:16/mi avg) about 1.6 was under 7:00/mi
Fri: 5.3 easy (7:58) some stops, was running errands...literally
Sat: 7.2 easy, but hard (7:54/mi) 70 degree dewpoint about did me in.
Not much to add, there was no training going on this week, just logging miles and throwing in some impromptu effort in a few spots.
-Props to your boys, KP. Outstanding!
-Allen1959, very scary story, indeed! Never came close to that myself!
-Mike L, nice report & props on the KCCC HM.
-nice race, Igy. ps-I've resisted saying this, but you're wasting your time arguing with trolls. You can't win, so please stop responding and focus on the good. The rest of us are smart enough to know what's what, so there's no need to point it out.
-Cush, thanks for the report on the Oxy meet! Great stuff! UK hosted the NCAA T&F East Preliminaries here in Lexington this year. I had the pleasure of enjoying 3 days of intense competition, pretty awe-inspiring; the sprinters, in particular, were out of this world. Talked to Chris Derrick's dad briefly, which was pretty neat for me; his other son goes to UNC, but didn't make it out of a very fast 5000m heat. Gina Sereno of Michigan, who went to my High School and had been coached by my old coach, won her 5000m heat so that was kind of cool, too.
OK, that's it for me. Still not quite feeling the racing bug (have to take off some vacation weight,) but I'm getting there. How's by you? Any races to report?
All the Best!
