'Unremarkable' is how I'd label this past week's "training" at first glance...but then I stop and remember just how fortunate I am (we are) to be running...at all.
Sunday was a 6 mile jog with my bride and vizsla in what are arguably the prettiest vineyards on the planet...so what if it was only like 11:00 pace.
On Thursday I got in a 9 miler on my favorite stretch of trail on the California coastline...all single track on a bluff along the edge of the Pacific
Three days I just ran endless laps of the high school track...a 7 miler in 1:02:43 and a 6 miler similarly paced in 53:35...nothing earth shattering there
Scratched out a total of 40 miles for the week...176 'streak' days in a row (just one missed day since last August)...surpassed 700 miles for the year midway through Thursday's jaunt...no big deal except that last year I didn't hit 700 until mid July!
So, all in all, as I head out the door momentarily for a little 10K jog-a-thon session, I cannot help but hum an old Emerson Lake & Palmer tune..."ohhh, what a lucky man he was "
Hoping that your training/racing week was exceptional...I'll look forward to hearing all about it...keeps me inspired...keeps me in motion (although it be sloth-like motion at the moment)
your pal,
MF
