Week 290
*************************
Greetings, 50+ers! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Festivus, Kwanzaa, or however you choose to celebrate these holidays. I hope that you're getting a chance to spend some quality time with people near and dear to you. It'll be a fairly quiet one here, as we chose not to travel up to Wisconsin. Not that we don't have plans.....but it'll be different.
With the semester finally out of the way, and my mind rested, as well, I'm ramping back up the running. Kept the runs fairly short, as the lower right side of my back continues tightening up after 3 miles on every run (the time off didn't help.) Managed to log 26.5 miles on 6 runs. Log reads as such:
Sun: 5.2 (7:37 pace)
Mon: off
Tues: 3.2 5xhill reps (7:42 pace)+ walked 3 more reps
Wed: 4.1 easyish (7:36 pace)
Thur: 5.0 easy (7:44 pace)
Fri: 4.5 some hard (7:11 avg pace)
Sat: 4.5 easy (7:56 pace)
Not much to say, just trying to get back into it this week. Several runs I had to stop at the 3-mile mark and stretch before finishing. Hopefully, the back will quiet down with a bit more consistency. Have also been doing random squats through-out the week. I'll usually do 2 sets of 10 deep squats (butt to the heels), just at random points during the day. Hoping that'll pay some dividends...my daughter thinks I should start adding weight. I'll try to get back to 30 this coming week and hopefully get back to mid/upper-30's (dare I think 40's) in January.
Thanks for all the conversation last week, a lot of intermingled discussions going on! Fantastic! Especially thanks to SoCal Pete for chiming in to offer your expertise. Much appreciated.
And I see that we're starting to assess our plans for the coming year. I s'pose I should post up some goals, too. I'll try to get to it later today when we have a lull in today's activities.
Thanks for bumping the thread, KP. Helluva time-trial! Peace to you, my friend, on the anniversary of your dad's passing.
Hope y'all have a great day and maybe even get to take some time off for some self-reflection at year's end.
All the Best!
