I ended up with 65 healthy miles this week. One of my better weeks in a few years. Starting to work some short fast stuff into the mix. Workouts for the week went like this...
Tues: 10 continuous miles in 66:39 w/7xCV 1000 avg 3:38 (only 30 sec rest) and 7x30 sec at 5:30 pace; did a midweek long run of 12 miles @ 7:46 pace Thursday; Friday was an easy 6 finished off with 8x20 sec around 5:12 pace; Saturday was 12.5 miles at 7:08 pace. Started out with a steady at 7:33/pace then the workout began: 14x1:00 min at 5:30 pace with 30 sec between at 6:40. That was tough at the end of a 12 mile run!
And as a craft beer connoisseur and an avid homebrewer I received some news Wednesday that is going to change my ways... Apparently my blood test revealed some higher than normal levels of aspartate AST/SGOT enzyme in the liver. The range is 0-46; mine was 47. Time to get concerned is 100. Anyhow, I was told to quit drinking, any alcohol, immediately. So I did. I'll get retested in 3 months. It might even make me a better runner...
I've got a 5k in 3 weeks so hopeful of a few more weeks of solid workouts.
Have a good one,
Dave
