Haha...what "Charlie S" is getting at is.....my report from 9 Oct is gone. What does that tell you guys? Is it obvious to you all yet? I'll talk to wejo, again, and if this report goes before next week, I'll repost 100x if I have to. After a week, well, nobody really cares, do they? :) So, here is my week that was: M, 65:23 easy. T, no running. W, 20min jog + 4 strides + 6x800m starting every 4min, cruisy 3:01, 2:54, 2:56, 2:57, 2,55, 2:51 + 10min jog. T, 40min easy. F, 40min easy. S, no running. S, 15min jog + strides + 10km tempo + 1km jog with my 3.5 yr old. Tempo was 38:17, halves of 19:24 and 18:53, last 2km 7:24, felt smooth. 20 weeks to Bazan Bay 5k, goal sub 17:23. Go ahead obsessive stalker troll. Its copied. :) |

There are 2 Charlie S's, one who used to use that handle and one who usurped it for some strange purpose, trust me I should know, ;) |

Hey, knock it off guys, don't bring this thread down. Nice job MG, maybe we'll catch up another time. Yes, I could see that the park was open for all sorts of things. This year they had flagging and so many people that I don't think there were too many dog walkers out there at race time. It was a chaotic weekend! But a lot of fun. Amazing amount of energy at these big high school/college invitationals. For the week, 35 miles running, 15 miles rollersking, and 1 weight workout. I jumped into the 5K community race (which I found was part of an xc series with some competitive runners). My training hasn't been great this fall after twisting that foot, but managed a 17:57 for 2nd 50+. The other guy was in the pack just ahead (about 15 sec). I couldn't hold the pace over the last lap, but it was fun to get out there and "scout" the course for the kids! The boys did okay, but not their best day. It's tough when runners 1 and 2 aren't at top performance. We were expecting/hoping for two top 15s or so, but they were just off. So the team finished a respectable tie for 9th, but got 10th based on points of 6th man. Get this, 1 place difference! They're young and no doubt learned a lot from their experience and hopefully will run stronger next year. |

Thanks "over 50", I was going to mention that earlier, but got sidetracked. It's a nice tie-in to some of our earlier discussion. captainrobbo definitely put a lot of thought and effort into his posts. I'm pretty sure I'll be dismayed at my own self-assessment, and then I'll have to take some time to think about how and which "fixes" I can incorporate. |

This shoe probably doesn't work for me, but for you folks that strike forefoot, I wonder if you've tried the New Balance Minimus MR10? Looks like a nice shoe. Currently, they are on sale at runningwarehouse, http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpageMRS-NMR10M1.html , and if you use the coupon code from their Facebook page (FB15D) to get an additional 15% off of sale shoes, they come to under $64. Although not considered minimal, the Saucony Fastwitch 5, (also on sale and with discounts comes to under $50), which has very modest posting and very low heel lift, is also a nice shoe (IMO). Cheers. |

Wejo, I'll email you later today. (In a nutshell, my long time stalker troll keeps hounding me here, and getting my harmless posts deleted, AND, he is emailing you to boot. Again!) |

Someone emailed me about the slow pace of the 6x800m on my previous report. Indeed, those runs hover around 10k pace, getting near 5k pace by the end of the session. The recoveries were only about 1min. At this time of year I want to do many low key sessions, and the time to stress about 3k to 5k pace for such a session is spring and summer. Yesterday I did very short recovery 400s hovering around 3k pace...same dealio, but a little more stressful than last week. Thanks for the question. |

Hi Everyone! I love this forum! I will be 56 come next years Boston Marathon and am very excited about running it! It will be the 30th Anniversary of the "Duel in the Sun" the race that myself and Alberto Salazar battled right down to the very end. In my early 50's I was running marathons in the mid to upper 2:40's but in the last 2 1/2 years I've had both knees replaced. I'm back training hard (70+ miles/week) but boy do I have a long way to go to get to where I hope to be come next April 16th! I get so inspired by you guys still running fast into your 50's and beyond, it gives me great hope! Keep up the great running and posting! Dick :-) |

Dick!! What an honour to see you here. I'm a good friend of Wayne Crowe, I think you know him?? |

Dick I met you in Victoria the Saturday before the 2004 RVM, I bought your book as well. You were talking with Katherine Switzer after your presentation that afternoon. This was happening inside the Fairmont Empress. Chris. |

:) Well, he ran with you in 1 or 2 Halfs in Vancouver, got a hero shot with you at the line, says he had a really good chat with you. You are (justifiably) one of his heroes in life.

Skuj, Someone hacked and put a response that was not from me! I would never respond like that! I really enjoy LetsRun.com but sometimes these message boards get to be a little out of hand. I really thought us old guys would be different! Now that you mention who your friend was and it was in Vancouver, I kind of remember that. Please pass my greeting onto him. Take care and have a great weekend! :-) |

Hi Chris, Sorry but someone put a response with my name that was not from me! I don't understand why some people have to be such turkeys? I love Victoria! My good friend Rob Reid is the race director for the marathon. I think I will be coming back up to speak at next years race. Hope to see you again! Take care and good running! :-) |

It's unfortunate that these things happen here Dick, but they do. (It's a young guy doing it, trust me.) Yeah, Wayne is a medical doctor, he and you had a "duel in the rain" so to speak. :) |
