Call your mother! @lucKY2b, so sorry, not a happy Mother's day for your family...Week 101: 24 minutes in 1 "run". Just getting out there to say hi to the Saturday crew. I have felt FINE ever since completing the marathon, no soreness whatsoever. But I felt TERRIBLE for these 24 minutes of running, literally everything was sore. LOL! Plus a couple sessions of yoga this week, otherwise NOTHING - no stretching, no gym, not even much walking.A planned down month following the goal race. Time to reflect on what went right and wrong, plan for the future, rest up, put on a kilo or two, and get the thirst for running again. For me it's normal to make a bunch of different plans and weigh them up, sleep on them, rewrite them, and basically take my time choosing the best. At the moment I'm leaning towards running my first fall marathon later this year. The positive is that the experiment continues and I get to find out if the fall marathon is easier to train for (for me personally) than the spring. The negative is that two marathons a year short-changes some part of the training season. So if I do go the fall marathon route then I would probably keep the base period intact and skimp on the sharpening phase. Or maybe just do 5k training the whole season. :)After going through that thought process, I chanced upon my "Boston 2013" plan from early 2010, hatched before I had run even one marathon. Note that I put "BQ 3:30" despite being well aware that the requirement would shift to 3:35 as I graduated into the 50-54 age group. Can't claim to be prophetic there, I was just being ornery.
Boston 2013
1. 2010 Spring full 4:00 (9:09)
2. 2010 Fall half 1:47 (8:10)
Winter Base
3. 2011 Spring full 3:47 (8:40)
4. 2011 Fall half 1:39 (7:32)
Winter Base
5. 2012 Spring full BQ 3:30 (7:59)
6. 2012 Fall full easy or 2nd chance
Winter Base
7. 2013 Boston to finish
Interesting to me that already in 2010 I was planning to do a fall marathon after the BQ. Other than losing much of 2012 to stupidity (I got excited and somewhat forgot that I don't have much talent), I seem to be tracking those projected times pretty closely for Boston 2014. "Winter Base" though is a little mysterious to me now. I have been doing my base in the summers and running the fall halfs without any sharpening.
2010 Spring Cleveland full 4:13 (9:40) Fall Columbus half 1:42 (7:44)
2011 Spring Cincinnati full 3:41 (8:26) Fall Columbus half 1:33 (7:06)
2012 Spring Louisville HALF 3:21 (15:18) Fall Columbus half 1:36 (7:20)
2013 Spring Cincinnati full 3:28 (7:55) Fall que sera sera
