3200 was 4:48/ 4:23 with the last 1200 in 3:06. Splits for the 1600 were 63, 65, 61, 59. Has already run 1:53.88 solo this year. 1600 is only (I think) 2 seconds off of Alan Webb's sophomore record

Check that. 4:08 for the 1600.
That's great. He's improving quite nicely.
What age is he now?
800 in 1:55
I believe he just turned 16 not long ago
That's the 2nd best double/triple in West Virginia HS history!
May I ask what the first is?

I have trouble buying the last 1200 in 3:06. Are you telling me they ran a 77 5th 400m?
77 65 63 57 last 4 laps for Burcham...a video will be up within a few days
Now there's word that the official on the 800 was 1:54.01. If that's the case, that would mean 3 state meet records in one weekend
He looks very physically developed for a Sophomore
Is he going to be in any more races this season?
NBN Mile most likely

So was Alan Webb. That doesn't mean the kid doesn't have real potential. It just means that he is already closer to it than his peers.

Yes.
Jeff Adkins' Friday/Saturday double from the fall of 1977. On Friday, as a high school junior, he was starting DB on Woodrow Wilson's (Beckley, WV) football team that defeated Fairmont Senior 6-0 for the State Championship (all classes) title. completing an undefeated season.
On Saturday he came back to win the individual crown in XC.

http://wvwoodman.com/aaafoot.htmAs a Senior, Adkins ran 8:52.4 (8:49.0 3200) for the 2 mile, defeating John Ziska in the process.
If I'm not mistaken, the weekend Jeff Adkins ran 8:49 at the Bellaire Relays to win he had raced the previous Friday evening in a meet in Charleston running the 880 in 1:56. I think he doubled at Bellaire, but I can't remember what he ran for 1600.

Of course. I hope he improves a ton.
I knew a few guys who ran under 4:15 as juniors, they were just men at the time. None improved much. He seems to have that same look.
Adkins was a beast. Can't argue with that
I know the kid personally and he is very developed physically for his age (16). I will say the kid has the best mental mindset of any runner I ever have came across, nothing phases the kid. The kid is a absolute beast in workouts and a amazing racer as well. I think he has tools to be a great runner, and his coach is tops too easily one of the best in WV college or high school. Sorry if I sound like I'm his jock or something, but he goes to my old high school with my old coach so I'm a bit biased haha. Overall I still see a tremendous upside because of his mind set and awesome attitude. I hope he continues to improve
To be more specific than Woj, here were his splits in both the 1600 and 3200 (splits are hand held, total times are official):3200: 70.66, 73.04, 72.18, 73.50 (4:49.38) 76.74, 64.04, 63.04, 57.86 (4:22.91)= 9:11.291600: 63.10, 64.57 (2:07.67) 61.08, 59.67 (2:00.75) = 4:08.80Also, Jacob is a young sophomore who turned 16 in February and is focusing on qualifying for the World Youth championships in July.

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
