"He mentioned on several occasions an extreme hatred toward religion, especially catholicism" - stated his maid of 5 years. Sammy Wanjiru may not have been a fan of the book but he was a fan of Ryan Hall ( United States premier distance runner, American record holder for the half marathon and fastest American debut marathoner). Wanjiru first met Hall back in 2008 during the Beijing Olympics, where Wanjiru, 21 years of age at the time became the first Kenyan to win an Olympic marathon. "After the race i congratulated Sammy on his win and what a bright future he will have with running, because that was the lords plan for him" - Ryan hall. What Hall may have failed to mention were Wanjiru's rather rude comments directed towards Hall's religious practices (something that has become a rather well known fact about Hall throughout the running community). "At the time i felt it was best to let it go, knowing that the lord would have a plan for Sammy's blasphemous words" said Ryan in an interview this afternoon. After Hall explained to Wanjiru that he was greatly disappointed in his own performance back in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics, Wanjiru allegedly replied "the lord doesn't give a f*** about your running, if he did, you would have won today. Maybe this should teach you that God doesn't exist and that you sucked today because your head has been up your ass for too long". While all this may seem a bit distasteful in the unfortunate circumstances of Wanjiru's death, it does in fact tie back together. What most don't know are the shocking words that Wanjiru uttered to his maid several nights before his death. "He said to me as i came in from feeding the goats "Hall just tweeted some effin BS again about the lord, this makes me want to f***ing kill myself". "I not did think it mean much but Mr Wanjiru walk to balcony right then and jump" - Said Wanjiru's maid. While It appears that no amount of religious practice seems to be too much for Hall, it proved to be just that for Wanjiru, who, fed up with American boy Ryan Hall's antics, committed suicide late Sunday Night.
