Ever since I started running, I've struggled with major runner's trots. This happens anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes into my run. So, it's not just when I do a long run. I almost always have a bowel movement in the morning, and I don't eat breakfast. None of this has helped. I went to the doctor, and they told me I have IBS, but I'm really skeptical. I tried cutting lactose out of my diet for 3 days--no change. I've now been on a gluten free diet for almost two weeks. The problem remains. Any advice out there? PS--I've tried peppermint oil (it decreased but did not eliminate the problem), immodium (doesn't work), and Bentyl (helps a bit, but not entirely). Has anybody else had this problem and solved it? How long do I have to try a diet before I know if a particular food is the problem?
