Great idea. I'll donate if he succeeds.

Qualified to be a agent ? I dont think so. My wife runs fast , so now Im an agent.
Well, now we know that agents don't have to be grammarians.

Many of you guys seem to be operating under the assumption that running fast is what does/should attract hot girls like Shalane. I know, it doesn't seem fair.
Interestingly, Shalane is one of the few top USA female distance runners who is faster than her husband. Just off the top of my head: Goucher, Hall, Simpson (not positive about this one), Huddle, Koll, Fleshman, Lewy-Boulet, Begley, Rhines, Pierce, and Rothstein all have husbands (fiancee in Koll's case, boyfriend in Rothstein's case) who are faster than they are, at least in terms of PR's.
Not that I'm disagreeing with your point above, just find it interesting how many top USA female distance runners are married to faster runners.

And UGLY faster runners, to boot. Think about Kara and Adam if they were average joes. Or Steve and Sara Slattery. I mean, damn!
He just ran 2:38 :) great job Steve!
the awkward moment when you run an amazing marathon time yet your wife is still 10 min faster than you...
Way too run, Mr. Flonagin!
From someone who donated money to the Pat Tillman Foundation based of Steve's debut marathon results, I assure you that Steve raised thousands of dollars yesterday for a very commendable and reputable organization. By training to run the very best that he could in order to raise the most amount of money for charity, I find it hard to believe that he is someone who is riding the coat tails of his wife. He is handsome, charming and supports Shalane 100% - oh, and he likes to give time and money to those less fortunate. Sounds like a catch to me.
I assure you, Steve's talk about breaking Shalane marathon time was all in jest and he is 6'2" 200 lbs - quite a feat for a big guy!
Kuddos to Steven - awesome marathon time!

HAHAHAHAHAHA I am faster than Steve!!! YES!!!!!!!!!
Dear CSWJMW,
I too know Steve, and find him to be very likeable and extremely passionate.
Shalane is a lucky women!
You might find it hard to believe, but what else do you call it when a guy with no credentials to be an agent forgoes getting a real job to be his wife's agent?

Supportive and selfless. A great husband.
You can be supportive, selfless and a great husband with a real job. BTW, she's the one who is being supportive -- as in supporting him not working.

Hey dumb fvck. Steve is independently wealthy. His dad traded Steel and he is worth like $7 million alone. Go choke on a cock.
I, for one, am impressed.
Ok , lets see the next con he can come up with to make money off his wifes name. Or maybe he is daddies boy living off his fathers wealth and wifes fame.
Maybe one day he can stand on his own.
What is the difference in Steve getting a regular job, making $50k/yr while Shalane pays an agent $50k/yr; or Steve acting as her agent and saving $50k/yr?

Flanagon, I choose you! Tri Attack!
(1) She would have the benefit of a real agent representing her, which would mean she should be able to recoup your theoretical $50K. If you don't believe that, then why does anyone hire a professional agent when he or she could just pull a random person off the couch to do the same job?
(2) There will be a time when she retires so it might make sense to pick up some job skills for when that day comes. Being an agent for 10+ years with your spouse as your only client isn't exactly going to attract other runners.

This has more to do with male ego than anything else. Guys have a hard time handling it when their women are more successful than they are. Look at how many Best Actress Oscar winners have split up with their men within a year or so after winning.
