Adidas Supernova Glide 3s are popping with every step I take!!!

try taking out the insoles of the shoe to completely dry them out. Off the top of my head thats the only thing that come to mind

I did that. It doesn't matter if the insoles are out or in or if I switch in a set from an older pair of shoes. Thanks though!

Sometimes the Adidas Formotion units do this as they break down... nothing you can do other than put up with it or get a new pair.

I have had this problem with both the glide 2 and 3s. I believe it is the glue that connects the rubber out sole to the mid sole wearing out with the pop you are hearing being the two pieces hitting. As someone else said, nothing you can do but ask adidas to use better materials.

I'm not a professional runner. But I ended here due I own a pair of supernova glide 4 which after 2 weeks of use made POPPING sounds.

I fixed the problem. and I just wanted to share.

On Supernova glide 4.

1. remove both shoes' inner soles.

2. remove the laces.

3. you should now have exposed the inner stitched sole (in my case it's grey and left side has the MI tray. if you pinch it u will notice it's not glued. this is what makes it pop.

4. using a sharp knife, or hobby knife (xacto) cut a D shaped portion of the material that patches under front portion and toes. DO not cut the stitches.

5. be sure the to expose the 3 mounting holes ( they're about the flex line when u walk)

6. Insert the inner sole.

Appreciate your post is an old one now, but thanks for sharing. I'm a long term Supernova Cush/Glide wearer, and have had two pairs of Glide 5 pop. Before I take to the latest pair with a knife, are you able to advise exactly the area you cut, I was a little confused.

great shoe. but i think it had something to do with the miRUN chip under the sole insert

This happens with every pair of glides I've had (10+ pairs) around 200 miles. Then it goes away by 250. I have always been confused by it, but given that it only bothers me for less than a week, I've never looked to far into it.

adidas had this same problem one other time with their supernova cushioned shoes! Geez!

Hmmmm. You might be right. The popping developed after some time in my previous Glide 5s, so I retired them thinking they were duds. Possibly just the 200 - 250 miles you mentioned. The pair I subsequently started wearing were virtually popping immediately ( both shoes).

I'm a staunch supporter of the product, and would only change reluctantly after many pairs of Cushes/Glides, but you would think Adidas would have recognised and dealt with the issue by now given how many runner seem to have complained about it.

Anyone else been successful with 'Glide surgery'? With my current pair I just don't see the problem sorting itself out, although hopefully I'm wrong.

So, I've taken the knife to the Glide 5s. Early prognosis (from jogging a couple of hundred meters) Is the problem may well be gone. I have a long run tomorrow and will advise if it hasn't stopped the pop.

Anyway, for the record I followed the indtructions above and cut a D shaped piece of the lining in the bottom of the shoes as far forward as I could get with a sharp knife. Approx 4 cm in width and 6 cm in length.

Happy running all, and Adidas - sort this out, it's a black mark against an otherwise good shoe.
