Results of the half marathon which haile won and also the marathon.
“My time is okay. It is not so easy to break one hour if you are running alone and without pacemakers,” said Haile Gebrselassie.
My experience as well.
Ha, he won by 23 minutes.

Wow!
Hailed Haile is the man. This guy was built for running.
"He won by 23 minutes"
Wrong- the results are not correct for the half marathon. Haile was part of the CATCH ME IF YOU CAN RACE.About 10 selected hobby joggers were given the honour to meet Haile and start next to him and they were part of this unique competition. Do you really believe there are no faster runners in a big city half marathon.

Great. I was wondering the same thing.
60min is great, no doubt. But it doesn't help his reputation that he was running against..... NO COMPETITION!

Can't hobbyjog a 1:23 half.
To the people complaining about the lack of competition, I would imagine that a 60:18 without any competition is a lot harder than a 60:18 with competition. I give him big props for this run. Certainly not mind-blowing for him, but it's a very fast run for having recently almost retired.
Also he was injured in NY, injured right before Tokyo again so it's great to see he recovered well.
??? Sure you can. I hobbyjogged a 1:15 back in the day. Guess it depends on your definition of hobbyjogged. I was not a professional runner, held a full-time job, ran most days but took a day off once in a while just because I felt like it.

Not bad as he drafted until the last 100m
To me he just an ordinary marathoner unless he wins London.. or New york. Not the time trial he is used to. He never wins when he got star studded field.
lol! ordinary marathoner indeed

I read this post, and thought "that's an idiot comment." Then, I look at who posted it, and... surprise, surprise!
So, by your definition, most of the top American runners in the 70s who held down a full-time job were hobby joggers?
The only part of your description that makes any sense at all was "not professional".
???No...that's NOT my definition at all. In fact, you are supporting my position more than anything. The person I wrote that to said he didn't' think someone could "hobbyjog" a 1:23 half...I'm saying that not only could you do that, but that IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII hobbyjogged a 1:15 even. My mentioning my full-time job is only saying that IIIIIIIIIIIII didn't just concentrate on running. It doesn't mean that other people couldn't have and didn't hold full-time jobs while being top distance runners.
