Great last lap for Huddle. She broke JB-S's will on the backstrech and tainted her the last 50m easing up to a near walk. Boo Yah.

That was awesome. Barringer needs to change her name back, or her event.
Molly Huddle, on the other hand, well ... I just love her.
Who the hell is Jenny Simpson??? I was like she looks like Jenny Barringer...then I figured she got hitched. When did this happen? Simpson just sounds weird. I want Jenny Barringer back!!

So, she TAINTED Jenny B-S, huh? How did she do that? Sounds like some nasty shananigans. Also...Jenny B-S. Yeah.
It's kind of sad. I think Huddle ran the last 400 in 65, which is hardly the stuff of great kickers. Simpson is just not the runner she was. Some runners don't make the transition from collegian to pro. It's way too early to write her off but she is not running quality times either last year or this year (indoor and out).
I think it was closer to 62; but Simpson got beat by the American Record holder, right, what is the big deal?
Yeah, 15:11 for 2nd in her first 5k of the season really sucks. Might as well just throw in the towel. If she's not going to run a PR every race I don't know why she would even bother...
Must really suck for Huddle, because she was even further back from her PR than Simpson. Stick a fork in her. She's done too...
Yeah, and I'm sure they were both training for this ONE, SPECIFIC race as well!! Losers!!!! :)

What the hell other big races are this year? You gotta lay it on the line at Mt Sac baby!

HWO ABOUT NONE? Which would be why they probably do more injury prevention than go all out this year and risk a bigger injury before the olympics?
She was saving it for Zurich.
She is an Optimist who sees every thing as a part of the grand plan towards success. Watching the post race interview she immediately focused on why it was a good race. She doesn't allow the reality of the loss to shake her ideal vision for her future. That is the problem with personalities like hers. Other examples are: Gabe Jennings, Lauren Fleshmen and Haile Gerbasselase.
These are people who will work without questioning the details, knowing they WILL succeed if they just stay the course. The problems occur when the course is not the right approach. Their personalities aren't tuned into the details or introspective to say "Hey this isn't working" they grind on with no results.
Someone close to Jenny needs to get her to focus on the details to make adjustments. She is NOT developing in her currenting situtation. Sure she is happy and positive --that is her nature --- BUT she is slower (fact). Something is broken. She has a lot of talent and the tools but every move she made since CU has been a bad one. Her personality requires clear direction to get her on the right course without it she'll float around just working any system (with positive attitude).
New Balance should perform an intervention get her with a good coach and living setting to get her on the path back to success.
Not a JB/S fan, but I was impressed at the solid return from a tough year.
Jenny took 2nd to the American record holder and achieved the world championships a standard in her outdoor opener. She can now try other events and get to Eugene with options. Last night was very well done.
didn't she run like 15:00 indoors or something couple years ago?
I thought Mt.Sac was a race meant for fast times and nothing else. They have rabbits and relatively cool weather. This is where an athlete finds out how his/her training is going.
15:20 is unacceptable for a race with rabbits. Simpson has run 3:59 for 1500 and about 15 flat for 5k. Even so, 15 minutes is no longer competitive. I don't care that Molly huddle ran 14:40 and finished 10th in a European meet. She had done nothing in terms of top finishes in this country or Europe. Simpson was 5th in the Worlds in the 2009 steeplechase.
She had better pick an event for worlds and start training. With nationals just a few months away, she has a big decision to make - 1500 or 5k or steeple. Since so few women have run under 4 minutes, I think the 1500 might be the ticket.
Um, first 5k of the year? Yep, you definitely want to peak in April. Who cares about USAs in a couple months and Worlds in 4 months?? Huddle has the world leading time so I guess all the other 5k women in the world must really suck if they can't beat her... in April. Huddle and Simpson wanted the A standard for 5k. They got the A standard. Questions?
I like Huddle better and am glad she won. Simpson(too bad her name wasnt Lisa barringer lol) was sitting a lot which is a little annoying but whatever.
This thread is really dumb though theyre both gonna do awesome soon.

Since her outdoor PR is 15:05, I wouldn't call 15:11 slow. Huddle was ahead of the rabbit for half the time she was out there, so it's not like it was an extremely fast-paced race. If this is where an athlete goes to find out how her training is going then it would seem Huddle and Simpson found out their fitness is right around 15:10-15:11 shape at the moment. They likely got the feedback they needed, so I doubt it matters what feedback a faceless message board troll got from it.
Huddle ran 15:10 and Simpson ran 15:11. Elizabeth Maloy ran 15:19 for third and Christin Wurth-Thomas ran 15:21 for fourth. Why is 15:20 unacceptable, and why is it relevant to anything? Sure, Simpson has run 3:59. Once. And since that time she has had a stress-reaction in her femur and missed a good chunk of training. You maybe noticed she hasn't raced much lately? I would be willing to bet that she and her coach have a plan. Maybe a plan that involves getting in a good 5k effort in mid-April a couple of months before she needs to be at peak fitness.
You sound like one of those people who criticizes Alan Webb for not running an American record every time he laces up his shoes. Do you also want to throw in a few choice words about Solinsky running 3:35 at this meet? Last year at this time he ran an American record in the 10,000m. This year he ran 1500m and didn't even come close to the American record. And what was he even doing in the 1500m anyway? A 3:35 is unacceptable. He should get focused and pick an event because his head's just not in the game right now, several months out from championships in a low key race. Heck, he got beaten by one of his teammates. How is he supposed to beat the east Africans if he can't even beat his own teammate? He should probably just quit running.

This.
