What's the altitude adjustment on 5:07 pace?
Good point, I failed to take that into consideration. Most prob put him then at ~2:07 pace for the 15mi, so pretty solid effort.

just run baby
But why the day off following this workout?
Jesus, Ryan is a monster. He struggled with 8 miles at 4:50 just 10 days before Boston last year. Then he runs a full marathon at 4:54 pace.

I have no idea. I think he should run even if it was just a relaxed 8mi or so.
I guess he has a plan, and is sticking to it. Will be interesting to see what goes down in a few days.
I personally think he will be in the same range as last year so 2:08:30 - 2:09:30. (that is based on nothing more that a gut feeling)
I am not a Ryan Hall fan, but I hope he has a solid day.
And how many marathons have you run under 2:10? Please... offer something or don't offer. Love the 'peanut gallery' comments on this board. Get a life.

By the way, does he eat any real food? Everything he was eating looks terrible.
Define "real food." He did say he was eating a lot more raw. Is that not "real"?
Listening more to his body and wants full recovery for more effective training I guess. Definately hard to relate to zero miles though.
I thought it was a good video and purposely designed to inform the running community that despite not having a coach his training and fitness are going well. His comment about how much easier 8 miles at 4:50 pace feels this year vs. last year also sets some expectation that he is fitter and feeling better than last year. Seems to me that his training might be geared towards a sub-2:08 race day plan.
Let's hope so come the 18th.
Everything that went into him came out of a jug! Hahaha, there wasn't a scrap of real food in that whole kitchen. I mean, if it works for him, so be it... it just looks awful.
He really does look soft around the midsection. I'm not even close to him in terms of running ability, but my abs puts his to shame. Maybe I should spend less time on core work and more time running?
hopefully he's just plugging for his sponsors, but the video makes it look like he only eats pasta, powder, and gel.
He is smooth, but noticed he runs like he is turning left, shoulders lean left. Did he do a lot of track running early on?

Yeah, I got the feeling that was basically a set up for sponsor product placement. It wasn't really all that subtle, kind of annoying. I sat through it waiting to see the workout but was a little turned off by it.
I also thought he looked a few pounds heavier than normal and a little soft around the middle but I've never really studied his body, so whatever.

Shut the f* up.
According to Daniel's formula, that effort is equal to 1:12:36 at sea level, or 4:50 per mile, so he was running 2:06:54 pace effort converted from 6,910ft. I think he will do fine at Boston.
Interesting that Hall is "house sitting" & staying at Jack Daniels' place in Flagstaff. I wonder what (if any) input he has gotten from Daniels on his training.

No, those were just his "supplements." I'll leave the value of those things to him, but he did say he ate a lot of raw foods and carbs, such as pasta. He definitely eats real food.

Congratulations on making a logical and sensible post. Those are a rarity these days.
Good on him for eating raw, though. That's the best stuff you can eat, especially organic. It doesn't sound like a bad plan to me. I wonder if he's a vegetarian, or even a vegan? I didn't get the sense that he consumed any milk or animal products. Interesting...
