I'm loving the part at the end of the write-up where he's mimicking McWhirter's call when announcing the first sub 4 mile, with all the separate records from local up to world! Excellent reporting, dude.

I love the one where Jack dropped a piece of his bun and had to go back for it!

Perhaps it is time for McRunner to step into this challenge? After all, he's been 'training' for this.
I'm not certain McRunner has the lethal combination of running and eating quality as well as quantity. This appears to be a more significant world record than we may be giving it credit for. Well done, Sean and Strawberry people.

Any pix/video for the anti-social Luddites that refuse to join Facebook?
yes, thanks, nice!
I think McRunner could give it a good shot. If he ran 2:36 for the marathon, he should be able to run 33:30 or below for the 10k, then he just has to polish off the beef faster than Sean did ...
OP here. Busy grading this week, but I have the video in my possession now so I'll hopefully have it up by tomorrow night.I'm really enjoying all the comments here. I'm totally in support of turning this into an annual competition/officially documented event similar to the Beer Mile. Can we work out the official rules (LetsRun rules?).The only disclaimer, and maybe Sean or Jack will correct me, is this doesn't seem like the kind of competition somebody will want to repeat. And after watching Sean and Jack I'll say that personally it's not one I want to even attempt. Now, as for this comment below, I am convinced that this challenge cannot be completed in Beer Mile format. The 10k will spread the eating out over more than 20 minutes, and after witnessing Jack suffer so much I'm convinced that if you don't eat all the BMs in a 20-25 minute block, you aren't going to finish.

I have been thinking about doing this, but I would restrict myself to a Beer Mile format - run a mile, stop to eat a Big Mac, repeat. If I ever get around to it I'll be sure to mention this thread as well as the original in my writeup.
What I'm really curious about, and I hope somebody will try this, is eating all the Big Macs first. A perusal of available literature (YouTube) reveals that the fastest standalone split for 6 Big Macs is about 15 minutes. Can somebody hit this mark, or better it, and then stagger through a 40 minute 10k for a 2 minute World Record? I hope so!
(By the way, YouTube also reveals that Sean has shamed many people who can't even finish a meager "6 Big Macs in 60 minutes" challenge)
Sean here, and I must say, if anyone could do this in beer mile format, they are truly something else!
The thing is Sean and Jack made it to Monday's ladder workout and didn't miss a beat. Any subsequent natterings from coach moi on viable nutritional supplementation to augment performance is sure to fall on deaf ears.
Though we made it to (and through) the ladder workout, it was a far cry from what I would say feels "good" ... though I think most of the trouble was from the semi-quick 10k, my stomach was definitely a bit queasy going through the higher speed stuff. I'll take my fruit smoothie or salad over 6 big macs any day haha.

It's a teachable moment for the Strawberries and I'd wager Jack agrees. This is etched in stone now. :)
ummmm, obvious question. isn't this a DNF? After all, how about the last .2 of a burger?

What part of 6 big macs and a 10k is not obvious to you?

Here's a link to the story behind the 6 Big Macs and the 10K in the OP. I'm not sure how you missed it when it was so mcobvious. This was the initial deal, the .2 burger is a nonsequitur.
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=3601167&page=0I love this photo in particular, it just has "REGRET" written all over it:

This really is one of the best, most ridiculous challenges ever--right up there with the beer mile, better than the chocolate milk challenge.
The 6-mac split record is 15 mins or something like that? Really? No way. My brother could absolutely crush that, he eats like Kobayashi.
Hey, speaking of which, last time I saw him he looked like he was in decent shape--I wonder if he trained for a while what his 10k time would be.
Considering it would take him maybe 2 minutes to kill the Macs, he might have a good shot at a WR!
So, really, who would this event favor--a great runner, or a great eater?
