Hi
I recently had a stroke on 3/16. The left side of my body completely shut down, and i was not able to even sit up or eat in intensive care until 3/23. Started walking with a cane on 3/25. I am told my rate of recovery has been very strong, most believe due to being in very good shape prior to the stroke. However the left side still has poor gait and a limp, typically resulting on some tumble when running. I immediately tried to start running when i got out of the hospital, mostly because it makes me feel like i have some control again. First 3 mile run a few days ago was 47 minutes, completed the same 3 mile run/hop today and was at 29 minutes. I am in my 50's and hope to go sub 24 for a 5k in June. Not an impressive time versus how i use to be able to run with little training. However the world has changed for me, and it would be a major accomplishment. I am trying to find other runners that have gone through a stroke and have come back to run again. If anyone knows of contacts, links, etc would appreciate if you could share.
