Not really. See was 800/mile.
This kid more mile/5k.
http://ca.milesplit.com/athletes/1702552Jeff See won multiple Ohio state titles, competed in FLN, won nationals in the mile his senior year, broke Alan Webb's sophomore record, went under 4:00 for the mile many times during the college (as well as sub 8:00 for the 3K)... and looks to have a promising professional career, even if it's not stellar like a Ritz or Rupp or Solinsky. If this kid has half the career Jeff See does, I think he'd call it a success. I'm not sure what the point of your snide remark was.
(This was not meant to diminish this freshman's accomplishment. 4:16 is quite impressive at any point in the season. Just calling out an a-hole who's being an a-hole.)

Wow, just wow. Interesting how you took that as a snide remark and I took it as a compliment. It is very difficult to tell what someones intent is on an internet post without body language, voice tone, etc. Not sure why you felt it necessary to make this long post without having any idea what the poster meant by comparing this kid to Jeff See. Relax a little and don't be so defensive.
That's true; perhaps I was a bit hasty. I don't think my message was particularly long or difficult to type, though. Either way, sorry about the response. Over the years, it seems Jeff has gotten a lot of criticism about his stellar younger performances and comparative "limited" improvement. Doesn't mean that this guy was one of them, but it sounded disingenuous upon first glance. Just wanted to make sure a comparison to Jeff See -should- be construed as nothing but a compliment. (To address the future trolls who are sure to claim I'm Jeff, or somehow know Jeff, I don't even know the guy. All I know is he's a heck of a runner, and I don't like our great runners disparaged, much less a comparison to a great runner used to degrade a nice performance by another runner.)
Have a good one.
This might be interesting to follow. As a frosh I ran 58.8 (relay 56.6) soph ran 1:59.9 (relay 52.0, 1:57.7) junior I relayed 2:57.0 as well as running 49.9 1:52.0 Well I had high hopes for a sub 4 mile my senior year. Ran 4:16 and never went to college
Har har har = Jeff See
Also won 2 mile. 931
Last year jacob burcham ran a 4:15.7 full mile as a frosh. Played football his frosh year, now has a good coach, and went low 15's more than once this year (his soph year) in XC. Placed pretty at high at the nike cross championships this year too.
I'm looking for him to go about 4:07-4:08 this year for the full mile outdoors and get after sub 4 by his senior year.

cool story
burcham opened his season with a 4:13/1:57 double

just wait until he hits puberty, his shoulders widen, and he suddenly sproutes some pectoral muscles.
Stockdale's always had a decent program. They consistently put out good runners, never whole teams that are great, but they generally finish well in xc at valley.
Or he hits puberty, gains a ton of strength and runs 4:05.There are a couple of guys that run sub 4:20 as freshman every year. When they run sub 4:08 as Sophs (or 4:05 as juniors) is when nonLocals should get excited)

Now he only needs to run a couple more 4:16s plus a good kick and he's hanging with the Kenyan boys of the same age! Wow! Amazing! This kid is the next Bekele for sure!!!

Yes, idiot. There are hundreds of Kenyan 14 yr olds who can smoke a sub 13:25 5k. That makes a lot of f***ing sense. If you are going to be a typical letsrun snob, at least try to have a clue or apply some basic math. Also, try to pick on adults. You may not be so bitter if you tried running more than 40 mpw. Then you might actually achieve something meaningful instead of having to bash super talented kids on their way up. I recommend reading more and posting less.
Jeff See is a pretty outstanding runner...
No one mentioned that he also won the deuce.
