Yes; someone does know how much they get paid.
Yes; someone does know how much they get paid.
Definitely depends on the athlete. I bet in general though, they all make at least 40k.
who funds this? nike?
I agree. The average person has no clue you could make money in this sport.
Most of them don't make any money at all hardly. They just receive free housing, some money for living (food...etc) and also around 1-3k per year for spending money. Our sport sucks. Deal with it. And yes, I know this for a fact. Nick Symmonds does not count. He makes more.
The above poster is correct. Most make no money at all. My former college teammate is now a OTC member and his parents support him.

Isn't it odd that this information isn't released?
No. When are endorsement contracts generally published? These aren't teams in a league that are paying a salary.
Additionally, it would be embarrassing to see that a world champion started out with $30,000 per year base pay.
I live in Eugene and I know several guys on the team. Symmonds and Wheating obviously make much more but for other guys like Pifer and tyler mulder they make 55k a year. The minimum OTC elite guys all make over 50k I havent heard any less than that. That is in addition to all the free gear they get.

Post of the day.
right, it depends on if they are an OTC athlete with a Nike contract or just an OTC athlete. There are some OTC athletes who get basically get gear and maybe a $500/mo stipend.
Odd , well most people do not talk about what they make as a salary.
You are young enough not to know this , lots to learn.
Publicity has nothing to do with with what people get paid.
You want to learn ? Find out where a group of "pro's" train ask if you can hang for a day. You will learn. Make sure its an active day vs rest day.
Like your energy and questions about the system , change it kid , it needs it.
Between 20,00 and 100,00+ depending on you ability, marketability, and most importantly the prize money you win.
Can't believe no one has said it yet...
"does anyone know WHAT OTC athletes make?"
they make money...
look at the title dumbass, he didn't even word it like that.
you're an idiot
this is the best answer wrote:

now that I look at the title, I am even more correct.
"Does anyone know what OTC Elite runners get paid?"
the obvious anser is money...and the only answer.
"what do the athletes make" has different answers. One could say they make american records (rupp indoor 5K, solinsky 10K), what if they make breakfast in the morning? then they make breakfast too. the way I worded it, there could be more than 1 answer.
the way the OP worded it has only 1 answer...money.
Actually you are the idiot. I tried to purposefully re-word it a different way, just to give some space for a letsrun 'tard to say "they make other things than just money" so we could have somewhat of a conversation... but instead, you are being incredibly dense, and also being a jack-ss in the process. You are probably the dumbest person I have came across today. And that is saying something considering there was a small local tea party rally near my residence today. In fact, there are many things I could say to further insult you, but I've already made you my b-tch, so I will stop.
Wrong, again. You are a complete idiot. The question, Does anyone know what OTC Elite runners get paid? is a yes or no question you watery tart. There are only two possible answers, yes or no. Since someone obviously does know, the answer is yes. My lord I can't believe how dumb people are on here.

lol well done, POD
I know the parents of an OTC person. They provide financial support for their child's dream of pursing an elite running career.
Everyone on Eugene OTC Elite gets housing, medical insurance, massage and other therapies, a travel allowance, coaching, and all the nike gear one could ever ask for.
What they get in addition to that varies, from nothing to - in Wheating's case - significant money.
So, does that add up to 50,000.00 at a minimum? Perhaps. Though not getting rich they're all able to train at the highest level.
Probably performances bonuses included and reduction clauses.
