One year old dude. Can't you do any better than that?

Nah. If that's what I was I'd be applauding you instead of calling you a twit. These guys are having the adventure of a lifetime and you're whining about it. Why would you care what they do unless you're jealous that they have the guts to try something out of the ordinary while you're glued to the X-box or whatever you do when you aren't minding other people's business?
They have NOT run sub 13:20. Go to Athletics NZ website and search for the NZ all-time list.
Yawn, your email is 123@aol.com. Try again troll.

I believe the 13:16 & 13:19 refer to splits in the Belgrade Race through history, as they ran slightly faster than that pace for the 6k course, assuming a kick, those are likely splits.
It was a 6k road race, Menjo ran 13:04 pace
1 Josphat MENJO KEN 16:53
2 Eliud KIPCHOGE KEN 16:55
3 Stephen TUM KEN 16:56
4 Saif Saeed SHAHEEN QAT 16:57
5 Jake ROBERSTSON NZL 16:58
6 Lazlo TOTH HUN 17:00
7 Zane ROBERTSON NZL 17:01
8 Boniface KIRUI KEN 17:08
9 Dennis MASAI KEN 17:09
10 Mirko PETROVIC SRB 17:44
A 6km road race is not a 5000m race!
You don't know their situation. Perhaps they were dirt poor in NZ with alcoholic parents. I mean, I hope not, but you don't know anything about them. They have no kids, no wives - so why the hell not? No one is suffering because of it.
Clearly, their parents probably would've visited by now if they had wanted to, right? I mean, I like to think mine would have if I hadn't seen them in 4 years.
Whether or not they win olympic gold isn't really the point here, is it. The point is when its all said and done, they won't have any regrets. Your 401K might be bigger than theirs, but is it worth all the "what ifs" ?
Elton posted their IAAF bios above. The bios include times for their entire running careers, spanning several years. They have NOT run sub 13:20 for 5000m. Anyone who knows anything about running knows that you don't use splits from a 6km road race in Yugo as your 5000m time. Have you ever run a road race in Europe? The distances are never correct. However, they ran well in that race, and one of them has a 13:30 odd 5000m time. These are respectable performances. Why do they need to lie/exaggerate?

Convert km to m and you'll get the correct answer.

Seriously? No regrets?
Guess what I did when I was 17-21? Had the best damn time of my life, went to college AND ran fast.
Not saying that what they are doing is wrong, but I think there is a tremendous chance they have serious regrets about this in the future. And they likely will have big what ifs too.

Are you really that f***n stupid? Have you ever run a 5000m?
well one thing is for certain-both these guys will run sub 13.20 this year. Why all the doubters.

How do you KNOW they are? Can you give the URL to all your PB times? There are plenty races that don't get picked up by Tilajostopia and iaaf bio's, just because YOU can't find a link to it doesn't mean it never happened.
The guys finished right on the coat tails of sub 13 men, and are telling us they ran times not as impressive as that result and yet this makes you question their motives?
Who do you think looks like they have a barrow to push here?
So anyone who doesn't do what you did between the ages of 17 and 21 is likely to have serious regrets in the future?
No, but you don't get it. It is painfully obvious you can have a clue about how to convert km to m. Have you ever run a "real" in your life? Highly doubtful.
Thanks! This thread has really deteriorated. Hope these kids can run some more quick times this summer.
Oh, their sub 13:20 5000m runs were splits in a 6km road race held in Yugoslavia. Someone needs to correct the IAAF records of their 5000m times.
If you are correct that if you are not running world leading times by the age of 20....then explain Geoffrey Mutai or Paul Tergat. Both did not even START running competitively until after mid-20s. Also, look up Duncan progressions at the marathon....he ran 2:04 after a 2:27, he was past 30 when he ran the 2:04 by the way...
The genetics are important, I agree. But the environment is VERY important.

You are a moron. If it's AIMS certified, which Belgrade was, I'll take it over the "5k" road course where you set your 16:40 PR.
