that honor code is very vague and absurdly restrictive.

I assumed "honor code violation" as plagiarizing or cheating on a paper or exam, as it is at normal schools. But no, it amounts to total control over how they live their lives, but does not mention cheating.

They chose to go to that school. I'll repeat that; they chose to go to that school knowing full well that certain things were expected of them if they chose to go there.

The whole thing is hipocritical. But, that just explains that there actually is no free choice on BYU's campus. Way to make yourself above the US Constitution.

So were Jim McMahon and Danny Ainge honorable, collegiate virgins? They certainly didn't act very well-mannered many a time in their professional sporting careers.

If it was gay sex, there would be a public outcry. There needs to be a hetero rights group.

BYU athletes, mormon or not, are on contract. They choose that school, they obey the rules.

My friend, who is mormon, her whole family has gone to BYU, was telling me about a story awhile back about some football guy and a cheerleader pulling themselves out from their sport. Rumors that they had sex.

Yes, it sucks but again, it's a lifestyle over there, follow the rules.

What shocks you? This is the same school and religion that refused to give a student who had GRADUATED his diploma, because he made and sold a calendar that had shirtless mormon missionary men in it. He had finished, paid for, and earned his degree and they refused to honor it.

Then the church excommunicated him for it.

I respect BYU for having standards. Most other programs who were rated in the top 5 would not have gotten rid of a player for NCAA violations much less school honor code. Davies was raised in Provo and knew the deal going in.

Having said that it looks like the program is going to suffer a great deal without Davies. BYU won't even win the MWC tourney much less the NCAA. Stick a fork in them they are done.

I've tried hard to understand Mormons, but I just cannot see a lot of them as being normal, sane people. A lot of them seem nice, but it seems like they've all been misled somewhere along the road. I don't know whether its the ridiculous Joseph Smith story, the polygamy, or just the poor attitude towards coffee, alcohol, and tea, but something just doesn't seem right to me.

If there's enough fuss about this, maybe G*d will come down and tell us that sex is okay after all. Just like he did about black people in '78.

I can take any denomination and make it seem weird. Example, telling grown men and women no sex for the rest of your life in order to serve in a church ?

is that normal ? are Baptist and no dancing normal ?
