I've heard the phrase "running/sitting in a bucket" in relation to running posture, but I have no idea what it means. Any help?

It means sticking your butt out back while you run, shifting your balance behind where it should be.
I've been trying to find a good photo/illustration of this for a while - hope someone posts.
I remember it as the phrase Dellinger (or someone) applied to AlSal.
I had hemorrhoids once, had to sit in a bucket for a while until the anal fissures healed up, yep, true story.

There are no pictures of Salazar where he is not sitting in the bucket. The current "guru" of running form is the all-time worst offender.
You left out the "h" in sitting. Insert it, and you will know.
it means sex

It means that the runner is not 'running tall' and is producing less than optimal power.
This happens to a lot of people when they get tired. It's like your sitting back. Get your hips forward, with a slight lean (from the ankles), and run taller.
I'd take his form and pr's....happily.
There's more than one way to skin a cat.

+10/10 Good post, you know something about running!
I have mentioned Chi Running and The Pose Method. Both mention ways to avoid this.
People rip me for it but that's all it is. These are merely methods to help you improve your form.
To understand them you must read the entire book. I am half-way thru Chi Running. I am not getting faster but at least I can run without pain in three ankle/foot problems for the first time in 5 years!!!
The facts are your form gets worse as you get older. Will Chi Running make you a 2 hour marathoner?
No, but the guys who will run a 2 hour marathon do not need the book because they have been doing Chi Running without instruction since birth!
If you get injured change your form, or don't listen to me. I've learned nothing in 50 years of running and at 60 years old. I sure can't help you.
